eaten at a discussion group ice cream
feed which was held in Drayton Hall
Tuesday night.
Tenements 19 and 20 were the honor
guest at the feed, having won the dis
cussion group contest. This group was
headed by Bill Brockington.

Violin Pupils
In Contest
Of . State Music Clubs
13 Students Of Madame de Hor.

test
Thirteen pupils of the violin depart
ment won in the Junior State Federa
tion of Music Clubs Contest recently
held ,at Columbia College. To take part
in the State contest the musicians had
to first win in the district contest which
had been held a week earlier. All the
violinists were instructed by Madame de
Horvath.
Gus Williamson and Julia Smith both
won first place in the violin solo class
for their ages. Besides the two so;o
winners were three violin quartets which
won first place in their classes. The
members of the quartets are: Jean Gar
ret, Julia Smith, Eleanor McDermid,
Leon McCormic, Margaret Smith, Mary
McDavid, Maurice Matteson, Richard
Allison, Maurice Ilumphries, Charles
Lee, Linley McCants, and William Tur
ner.
The winners of the State contest all
played last Saturday in Florence before
the State Convention of Federated Mu
sic Clubs in Florence.
