"Contrary to popular belief, Alask
probably has as great a range c

last Friday night in LeConte College
"One man told me," he continued
"that he had seen the temperatur,
rise 100 degrees in 24 hours."
Although Yukon winters record
minimum of 76 and 78 degrees belov
in the upper region and 22 below ii
the lower region, Dr. Taber, wh<

Elephants 'Points, on the northeri
Alaskan coast, so called because o
mammoth tusks and skulls found ther
in the early days, has one, of the few
if not the only natural refrigerators it
the world, according to Dr. Taber.
"The Eskimos have tunneled into
buff near the coast, gorging four larg
rooms in addition to a main tunne
out of the icy earth. The rooms hav
several doors between them and th
tunnel in order to keep any warm at
from reaching the interior."

to watch the proceedings. Students were
not prohibited from entering and study
ing but one said the lawyers were making
so much noise he had to go across the
hall and join about six other prospective
lawyers studying in the Abney library.
Dean J. Nelson Frierson of the law
school said he gave Governor Johnston
and his lawyers permission to use the
law library to work on their case.
Besides the members of the bar there
was several stenographers, Roy Powell,
the governor's secretary, and at various
intervals Governor Johnston himself,
present to aid with the intricate delving.
Anyway, the law students were given a
good inside glance at the procedure used
in gathering the law and building up a
case.
Scruggs -ope, University law student,
aided Governor Johnston in securing in
formation pertaining to the case, and
commented that the former Carolina mar
possessed a vast information of both
South Carolina and Constitutional law.
Numerous law students, whom pro
fessors said they had never seen' in the
library before, were gathered in the
hail and watched proceedings. Numer
ous complaints arose from students as to
the noises that lawyers created, but noth
ing came of their dlemurrings.
