"Concentration of forces in any undertaking
is essential to success,"
stated J. Wiley Brown, newly elected
president of the Clariosophic, in his
inaugural address last Tuesday night
in the society hall.
Declaring that he considered this
office the greatest honor that could
possibly come to him during his stay
at the University, Mr. Brown went on
to say that he was determined to maintain
the high level set by his predecessors.
Mr. Brown called for a revision of
the constitution saying: "There are
some sections of our present constitution
which are so obsolete that this
organization cannot be governed by
them."
Mr. Brown also said that he proposed
to continue the renovation of
the hall as far as the finances would
allow.

Law President
Bill Friar, of Florence, was elected
president of the rising senior law class
at a meeting of the class last Friday.

Huggins, vice-president; Harry Wal- c
lace, secretary-treasurer; Frampton ,

team defeated the Carolina team
at Clemson, 10 to 9, yesterday in
the first of the post season series
to determine the championship of A
the Palmetto College League.

Block "C" Club
To Give Dance
The annual 'spring dance of the
Block "C" Club will be held during 1
the week preceding examinations, <
cording to an announcement by Al- 1
len Correll, president of the group.
Definite plans for the dance will not
be available until early next week. <
A committee composed of Ed Sikes,
chairman, Bryant Adair, Mike Brown,
Jimmie Brailsford, and Bill Latham
are in complete charge of all arrangements
for a surprise dance. Complete
plans will be announced in the next
few days.

Selects New Members
Election of new members to Omicron
Delta Kappa, national honor fraternity,
will be held tonight in the law
building at 7 o'clock. Only those men
who have amassed one hundred points
according to the point list printed in
the Gamecock last fall will be eligible
to election.
The committee to investigate eligible
material is composed of Lew Wallace,
Lawson Scott, and Tommy Scott.
At present the group is composed of
about 30 men.

student body tied with one vote in dispute
in the first race. Immediately
after the votes were counted there was J
some discussion of letting the Student 11
Council decide the matter, but later I i
both sides agreed that a second vote 11
should be taken.
The contest marked a apparent re- 1
vival of interest among the students f
)ver campus politics. There were 1,187 I s

This is the first time in twenty-five 1,
rears that two candidates have tied

for the presidency.

Jimmie Brailsford of Orangeburg
was elected president of the rising
junior law class yesterday morning.
Other officers elected were Charlie
Moore of Spartanburg, vice-president;
George H. Davis of Mullins, secretary
and treasurer; and Peggy Black of
Millettville, historian.
Brailsford is a member of Sigma
Alpha Epsilon and Omicron Delta
Kappa fraternities and won an award
for being the most scientific boxer on
the University boxing team. He
takes a prominent part in student activities.
Senior Gowns

Price of the caps and gowns for
the senior class has been reduced to
$2.25 and all applicants for degrees requested
to place ttyeir order with Mrs.
Moon at the postoffice immediately,
Sanders R. Guignard, chairman of the
caps and gowns committee announced
today.
The above price will include white
collars for the girls. A one dollar deposit
will be required with the order
and no orders will be taken after May
