QUESTION-MARK EXCITES BIRD FLIES AGAINST WINDOW Little Bird Tries To Seek Safety Within The Halls Of DeSaussure Airplanes, constantly above Columbia (luring the past week, have disturbed their lesser kindred of flesh and feathers to an unprecedented extent. A bird frightened from its home in one of the campus trees sought refuge in a dormitory room when a big monoplane, perhaps the famous Question Mark, Hew over the campus. As the plane's dark shadow swept across the Carolina greensward, a mocking-bird became excited. T. he hum of the motors, perhaps akin to the swish of a hawk s wings in the songster's reactions, caused him to sail forth from his perch to a window in DeSaussure college, tenement 15. He struck a glass pane of room 4 on the second floor. Dazed but determined, the bird continued his efforts to enroll at Carolina by the simple entry method. He fluttered against the pane in desperation until exhausted, then fell on the window ledge. When the plane droned away, strength returned, and he flitted off. A student in the room said the bird appeared young, almost a fledgling. "It nearly died of fright," he commented. Chicken farmers of the Middle West found their poultry in an uproar of squawks and cackles when the first air mail planes were routed above the large flocks, so much so that the planes were re-routed to avoid the farms, but this is the first occasion known on which a mOcking-bird was driven to sanctuary in the Gamecock school. Fans scarcely had time to settle their nerves . from Zobel's flashy run before another wild dash sent them up on their feet wildly cheering again. Maryland kicked off to Carolina to open the second half and Boineau received the ball on his fifteen yard stripe. Tucking the pigskin securely under his arm, Boineau flashed down the field for an 85 yatd dash and a third Rooster marker. Boineau again kicked the extra , point, making the final score 20 to 6 favor Carolina.
