STUDENT Revised, 1929 ARTICLE I Members Section 1?All regular matriculates of and candidates for degrees in the University shall be members of the Student Body. ARTICLE II Officers and Elections Section 1?The officers of this body shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer; the President to be elected from the Senior Academic Class, the Vice-President from the Senior Law class; the Secretary and Treasurer from the Junior Law or Junior Academic Class. Section 2?The Student Body shall have as a governing board a Student Council to be composed of fifteen (15) members to be constituted as follows: The President of the Student Body, the Vice-President of the Student Body, the presidents of the four Academic classes, the presidents of the three Law classes, the president of the Inter-Club Association, and one (1) from the Co-ed Association, and one (1) member from each of the four literary societies, such members to be definitely elected for that purpose. Section 3?Each class shall elect its officers in the spring for the following year on the day four (4) weeks, next, preceding Commencement Day, elections to be effective with the opening of the succeeding session; provided, however, that all classes save the rising Senior Class, may hold their elections within two (2) weeks after the day fixed by this section. Section 4?Each class shall have the following officers: President, VicePresident, Secretary and Treasurer, and Historian. Section 5?The Freshman class shall at this election elect two (2) of its members, one to be a co-ed, to be members of the Honor Committee. The Freshman Class shall elect its officers on the sixth Saturday following their matriculation. This election shall be conducted by the Student Council, and shall be by secret/ballot. Section 6?-The Freshman Law class shall elect its officers on the fourth ^ Saturday following date of matriculara tion. It shall at this time also elect yone (1) of its members to be a member of the Honor Committee. 3 Section 7?The Inter-Club Associa,j tion and the Co-ed Association shall . hold their elections in the spring with^ in two (2) weeks after the day five g-I (5) weeks, next preceding Commence2 mcnt Day, such elections to be effec3 tive upon the opening of the succeeding session. *> Section 8?The term "of office shall /? be from the opening of the session g thru the final Commencement Day. , Section 9?The Chairman of the Student Council shall call a meeting of the council for the purpose of making nominations for upper-class members of the Honor Committee. The above meeting shall be held during the third week in April. The Council shall nominate two (2) men and two (2) co-eds from each of the three upper academic classes and two (2) men from each of the upper Law classes. Within a week after the nominations have been made they shall be announced and for three days following such announcement, the student ' body at large shall nominate as many additional persons as it sees fit. Within a week after nominations are closed they shall be voted upon. There shall be elected from the aforesaid nominees one man and one co-ed from each of the three upper Academic classes and one man from each of the two upper Law classes. The members so elected shall themselves elect a chairman for the Honor Committee from their number. Student body members entering as freshmen at or after the beginning of the second semester shall be disqualified to vote in this election. Section 10?On the day six weeks next preceding commencement the president of the rising Academic class, the President of the rising Senior Law class, the President of the rising Junior Academic class and the President of the rising Junior Law class each shall call a meeting of their respective classes. The purpose of the rising Senior class (Academic) meeting shall be to make nominations for the presidency of the student body; the purpose of the rising Senior Law class meeting shall be to make nominations for vice-president of the student body; the purpose of the rising Junior Law and academic class meetings shall be for each to make nominations for Secretary and Treasurer of the student body. All nominations shall be handed, on the day made, to the chairman of the Student Council, who shall announce them to the student body the following day. For three days following this announcement, nominations may be made in writing from the student body, provided five men second the nomination. Within three days after nominations come to a close the Student Council shall conduct an election for the above officers by secret ballot. Every-one of the student body shall have the right to vote in said election. In the eveht no candidate shall receive a majority at the said election, such additional elections as may be necessary shall be conducted by the Student Council at three-day intervals following the first election. ARTICLE III Duties of Officers Section 1?It shall be the duty o the president to preside over all meet ing of the student body, to announc the business before the assembly ii the order in which it is to be actei upon, to inform the assembly whei necessary, on points of order or prac tice pertinent to pending business The president shall call meetings o the student body at such times as h deems necessary without authorize tion from anyone. Also any ten mem bers of the student body, upon sign ing a petition to the president to cal a student body meeting, shall hav the right to call such meeting if th president refuses to do so. Section 2?It shall be the duty o the vice-president to preside in th - absence of the president; in the ab sence of the president; in the ab sence of both the president and th vice-president, the duty of presidinj shall devolve upon the secretary am treasurer. Section 3?-It shall be the duty o the Secretary and Treasurer to tak and preserve legible minutes of al Student Body assemblies, to preserv and dispense such funds as may com into his hand. Section 4?It shall be the duty o the Student Council to conduct al necessary correspondence relating t? the Student Council or to the interest of any member thereof. ARTICLE IV - Honor Principle and Organization . Section 1?The Student Body takes II it for granted that each student is a e gentleman and a man of honor until e he proves himself otherwise. It is the duty of each student to ref port such infractions of the Honor e Principle as came to his notice. Section 5?The cheer leader shall be jlected from the Student Body the second Tuesday in May, his election to t>e effective during the succeeding session.
