Classes Seii FIRST BAPTIST (By BRUC& DAvIS, Pres.) The Carolina Bible class at the First Baptist church led by Guy Hill, principal of the Columbia high school, is prepar ing to send several students to the Blue Ridge conference in June and 'pay part of their expenses. The class is saving part of its collection each Sunday 'n order to help meet the expenses of the man or men who will be chosen to go. The Baptist Bible class is one of the largest classes in the city for University students. The policy of this class to ward the Y.M.C.A. conference has al ways been favorable. Realizing the value of a conference which combines vacationing with organized and directed studies of personal and social problems, the class has sent at least one man each year for the last eight years and one year paid part of the expenses of five men. 'Fie delegate for the class last year was the only man to gp to Blue Ridge, Bert Karick. The plans of the class are to continue the policy and to end as many people this year as they I.ussibly can. The policy of saving part of the col lection has been approved by the church. As a supplement to this we may also put 'n what might be called an "Every Member Canvass." This canvass is matde each spring and every member is iven the opportunity to contribute to the 1lue Ridge ftlud. As an added induce muent two members of the church, both i.1rner members of the class have pro mised to give $5.00 each to see that there is ample money to help send at least .Ie student. The class feels that at least part of hel reason why it has been so successful s the fact that each year it has several leading members in the class trained i-r their work at .the Blue Ridge con :ere'nce.
