The Carolina yearlings continued
their glorious marLh t. rard the fros'
title by addirig the Clemson cubs to
their string of victories last Tuesday
night in a preliminary to Gamecock
Tiger contest by a score of 37 to 22.
Led at the end of the first half 17 to
15 the baby Gamecocks came from be
hind to overtake the cubs and win by
a safe margin in the closing minutes of
the game.
The Biddies scored first and ther
established a wide lead 13 to 3 that gave
the appearance of being an easy triumph
for the Chicks but the Cubs staged a
desperate rally that soon had them in
the lead, a margin that was maintained
at the end of the first half.
The second session of the game found
the contest being hard fought, neither
team gaining any commanding lead
However, the Chicks soon drew ahead
and established a safe lead for the rest
of the game. At one time the Cubs
came within three points of the Chicks
but soon dropped back when accurate
passing by Floyd and Ritch, coupled
with splendid goal tossing by Powel
gave the Biddies a substantial lead.
DeVaughn (lid fine pass work in ad
vancing the ball to a scoring position
and the work of Mauldin, DuPre and
Hughey who were sent in as substitute;
was outstanding.
