Carolina won from The Citadel last
Saturday in a baseball game that was
featured by the heavy hitting of the
whole Carolina team. Carolina began
the tallying in the first inning and kept
adding to the score throughout the
game. When it was all over the score
stood Carolina 13, Citadel 0.
The Gamecocks, by scoring the "un
lucky" number against The Citadel,
made it two thirteen to 0 games for
the week for Carolina, having trounced
Wofford by the same score Wednes
(lay.
The teammates of "Lefty" Riggins
gave him excellent support thus en
abling him to come through with a
no rungame. Three double plays
were pulled by Carolina, Lamar and
Clark made feature catches and Rig
gins' relay in off Chandler's peg from
the field in the ninth inning enabled
the Birds to shut out the Cadets.
Monkey Clarke had a great day. He
made one error but it was over
shadowed by his excellent fielding and
hitting. He lifted one of Wilson's
choice offerings over the left field
fence in the third inning for one of the
longest homers hit on the Carolina
diamlond. I
Carolina scored three runs in thec
first inning on three base singles,
three errors, and two bases on balls.
In the second a base on balls, a hit and
a sacrifice brought in a score. Three
more cane in the third when Clark
hit a homer with two on base. In the
fourth five hits and a sacrifice gave
the Gamecocks three more runs amnd
the last three, making four groups
with a trio of countersign each, came
in the eight Ii inning on a double steal.

held in Davis college Monday afternoon
at 4:15. Miss Rigby defeated Miss Ro

Brock Re-Elected
Varsity Cheerleader
Curtis Brock of Union was elected to
serve ano her year as varsity cheerleader
at a student body meeting held in chapel
last Tuesday morning.
Brock was varsity cheerleader during
the season just passed and also served
on the freshman cheering squad his
first year at Carolina.
His assistants have not been chosen
as yet and probably will not be an
nounced until the beginning of next
year
Besides his work with the cheering
squad Brock is a feature writer on the
Gamecock, and is a member of the
Block 'C" club, the K. S. K., and the
Hercules club.
