Lefty Godshall, pitching masterly
ball and allowing only six scattered
hits throughout the entire nine rames,
shut out the Wofford Terriers on the
University field Wednesday. While
Godshall was keeping the Terrier
bingles few and far between his team
mates ammassed 15 hits for a total of
13 runs.
Rouse, Wofford's "no-hit" twirler
was pounded freely in the two initial
innings, Carolina scoring three runs in
the first round and five more in the
second. Another Gamecock crossed
the home plate rubber in the fifth and
four tallied in the eighth.
Red Adams had a perfect day i't bat,
getting five hits in as many trips to
the plate. One of his blows Nvas a
triple. Chandler and Windus also got
three baggers, the only three extra
base hits of the contest.
Salley reached first on Kennedy's
(Wofford second sacker) error to open
the Gamecock's half of the first in
ning. Lamar hit to the infield and was
out. Adams singled and Chandler was
given a free pass I to fill the bases.
Mike Windus sent a sizzling hit to left
field and Salley and Adams trotted
home. On a wild pitch Chandler came
home from third and Windus advanced
to third. Windus attempted to steal
and was out when Wimberly fanned.

THE BASEBALL outlook has taken
on a different hue, since the Birds
smothered the Furman Hornets
and the Wofford Terriers in the
last two games. . At present thi
Birds stand on top in the state
rating. All state teams have lost
more games than Carolina with the
exception of Clemson, but the
Tigers have not played but a few
games in the state so far.
LEFTY GODSHALL pitched a mighty
game against the Terriers Wed
nesday, while the offerings of the
Wofford boy who pitched a no hit
no run game against Furman,
were walloped at will across the
diamond.
RED ADAMS came out of a slump
with a bang, when he banged the
apple five times out of the same
number of times at bat, in the
Terrier-Gamecock fray.
THE GAME between Furman was a
joy to every one with Laval by no
mean excepted. Hough, who won
against the Birds in the first game
was knocked from the box and
still the Birds continued their
rampage. Bob Stoddard had noth
ing to fear with such a substantial
lead, and took things easy, merely
pitching his usual steady game.
THE WHOLE baseball teams looks
great, and with an errorless shut
out credited to them in the last
game, the Roosters seem to have
quite found themselves. A total
of twenty-five runs have been
made in the last two games, so the
batting slump seems to be over
with.
THERE'LL BE A HOT time in Clin
ton tomorrow when the Bird
meet the other state track teams
and with a little luck they may
bring back the cup, from the P.C.
boys, present champions.
McFadden's Men Go

ann'al state track meet. The Bir.t
1 in ye:ss5, and hive 'lready defeat
ed Woltord, and Furman, and lost to
1'. C., defending champions, by a slim
margin.
Ed Zobel will furnish excitement for
the spectators in the dashes, and with
a slight pick up he may smash the
state recordl. He has already equaled
the record in the 220, and all but tied
the 100, in Greenville when one stop

day in Florence. When the battle had
cleared away Carolina had admini

the tune of 11 to 5.
Early rains made fast baseball next

kept a large number of fans and alum

crowd present as the game opened.
Furman took an early lead when
Whitey Rawl slammed one of Stod

It was not until the fourth inning
that Carolina struck her stride. She
sent six runs over the plate in the
fifth inning and from then on Furman
could do very little with the Game
cocks. Carolina scoring four more
runs, two in the seventh and two in
the eighth innings.
In the fifth inning, with the bases
full, Bob Stoddard made a smashing
three base hit to clean the bases, ther.
scoring himself on a single.
