Presentation of a loving culp t. tile
Hypatian literary society was the fea
ture of the joint imeeting of the two
co-ed socieies held wih the Euphrosy
neans Wednesday afternoon in Eupra
diai Hall..
The cup, presented for the first time,
is to be presented every year to the
society which wins the inter-society de
bate. It was won this year by tile Hy
patians, Misses Anne New and Carrie
Neil Goff representing that society, and
Misses Ida Johnson and Mayre Wali tile
Euphrosyneans. Tile presentation was
made by Miss 'lhelma Lockman, critic
of the Euphrosyneans, to Miss Christene
Roof, president of the Hypatians.
All formal business was dispensed
with, and only the program rendered,
which was begun with a hunorous read
ing, "Tommy," by Miss N\ayre Wal.
Miss Lillie Garner deligh ed her audi
(:nce with some love poetry that was
both clever and entertaining. "Among
My Souvenirs" was accompaied by the
applause that always greets the appear
atice of Miss Alice Mikell. "A Tele
phone Conversation Overheard at the
Woman's Building," given quite capably
by Miss Eva Joe Locklan. received al
etlliusiastic welcome, especialy since the
conversation involved some of the cam
pis celebrities: to wit, Leslie Edwardk.

Beta Zetas Honor
Freshman Initiates
A lovely affair was the banque-. given
Monday by the Beta Zeta club in honor
of the seven freshmen who were initiated
in o the clu!).
- The banquet was helk in the private
dining room of he new Rose-Miary
tea room, which was decorated in the
club colors, wine red atd go.d. The
table was adorned with bowls of roses
and snapdragons.
Th honor guests were: Misses Louise
Taber. Helen Bell, Macy Goodwyn,
Catherine Remely, Adeline Williams,
Faith deLoach and Eniily Fowles.
The banquet was a four couse affair,
after which the guests enjoyed dancing
in !he receiving room. music being fur
nished by the Gamecocks.
