fraternity and vice president of the
Tnter-frateriity comcil of the United
States, spoke to the Hercules club at
a banquet tendered him MomNday night
at the Rose-Mary tea room.
Mr. Phillips tol the members of
the Hercules club. which is petitionilu
S. P. E., that "the people who are pay
ing your bills are not interested in
whether you join a fraternity or go to
see a football game, they are interested
in the grades you bring home. Our
fraternity insists on high scholarship."
Continuing his discussion of frater
nity work Mr. Phillips told of the
Sigma Phi Epsilon plan of finance and
its development and success. He also
stressed the new standard of scholar
ship which was inauguarter by S. P
E. and expressed the belief that the
new plan would be a help to the fra
ternity.
Besides being prominent in general
fraternity work Mr. Phillips is
especially influential in S. P. E., hav
ing been one of the founders of that
fraternity and active in' its progress
since then.
