Sorority Gives Reception and Dance Final Functions of Installation Attended by Scores of Students Instailation of Beta Epsilon chapter of Alpha Delta Pi, national sorority, ended with a reception and dance at the gym last Saturday night. The reception was held from nine to ten. The sorori ty colors, blue and white, were used very effectively inl the decorations. Sus pended from the ceiling was an inita tion banner, with two stars at the end and "Alpha Depta Pi" in the center. In the receiving lines were: Mrs. John J. Seibles, Miss Harriet Baker, Mrs. Kinnaird Rowe, Tom Moore Craig, James G. Driver, and Dr. and Mrs. Davison M. Douglas. The dance which immediately foliow ed the reception that was held as the final function of the installation of Alpha Deita Pi was attended by scores of students and out of town guess, for the dance, furnished by the Game cock orchestra, began at 10 o'clock, and lasting until midnight. Special numbers were the national Alpha Deita Pi song, "I Love the Pin," and "Alpha Delta Pi Sweetheart," which ended the dance. The grand march was led by Miss Harriet Baker, senior leader, with Tom Moore Craig, and Miss Clarge King, graduate leader, with Cecil Scott. USC Chi Omega Sorority Entertains Alumnae Give Informal Dinner at Game cock Inn-Thirteen Mem bers Present The Chi Omega sorority, which has recently been established on the cam pus, entertained with an informai dinner party at the Gamecock Inn last Friday, honoring the alumnae members, Mrs. Stephen Taber, Miss Erin Kohn and Miss Mae Culpepper. Covers for thirteen were laid at the table beautifully appointed with the sorority colors, cardinal and straw. At each end of the table burned long cardi nal candles, and in the center was a huge bowl of white carnations, the sorority flower. Each guest found her place by the at tractive place cards. which further car ried out the color scheme. A three course dinner was served. - Usc _ Beta Zetas Honor Mrs. Rowe with Tea 'lihe Beta Zeta club gave a delightful tea Saturday afternoon honoring Mrs. Kinnaird Rowe, Alpha Delta Pi national inspector. wvho wvas on the campus last wveek to install Beta Epsilon chapter. The tea wvas given at the home of Miss Margaret Withers on Pendleton street. 1.n the receiving line wvere Miss Harriet Scarborotugh, p)residlent of the Beta Zeta club, Mrs. Rowve, Miss Elizabeth Jones, vice president of Beta Zeta; Miss Har riet Baker, president of Beta Epsilon chapter; Miss Irene Dillard and Miss Margaret Withers. Members of Beta Zeta clubi assisted in serving and re ceiving the guests. -Usc Co-Eds Take Part in Elks Minstrel The co-eds played an important part in the Eak's Minstrel which was an event of this wveek. 'lihose taking part in the performances were: Misses Eva Jo Lockman, L4illie Garner, Katherine Lewvis, Louise Jennings, Othello John son, Ann'e Truesdale, Virginia DuRant, Eva Truesdale, Leila Robbins, Lottie Etters, Louise White, Julia Lewis and IMhzabeth 'Johnson. The minstrel is an annual affair, and is Piut on for philanthropic purposes. 'leere were three performances, Mon day and Tuesday nights and Monday matinee, which was a charity perfor mance for the deaf and dumb, and MIind; the old soldiers and other chari ED NE MAYRE WALL, Editor Personals Misses Dessic Padgett and Birtie Robbins of Greeleyville, spent the week end with Miss Leila Robbins. Miss Ida Johnston has returned from Coker College where she attended a meeting. Mr. Buck Nolan, a forner student at the University, and at present a teacher at Weaverville College, Weaverville, N. C. spent last Sunday with Miss Vir ginia DuRant. Misses Mayre Wall and Louise Mc Intosh accompanied the former's parents to Augusta where they spenpt the week. end with Mrs. R. P. Weeks. Miss Virginia Doar, a former stu dent at the University, visited Miss Mary Carter Barnwell. Miss Sura Wolff has returned from Charleston where she went to attend the Shrine dance. Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Bussey of An drews have been the guests of Miss Louise White. Mr. and Mrs. DuRant, of Sumter, spent Saturday with their daughter, Virginia. Alpha Gamma club has bid Miss Sarah Bowles. Miss Freda Abel has been dismissed from the infirmary. Miss Gillette Tolbert was called home because of the death of her brother. WHY CH2 WS Classes to Compete. in Co-Ed Basketball In the coming basketball tournament which is scheduled to occur in March, there wili be class teams. Competition is keen this year, and it is uncertain who will make the teams. With the gym court having been available only two hours a week, there has necessari ly been much outdoor work. The incie ment weather has greatly hindered the practice, and shows the increasing de man( for more indoor space for co-ed activities. Not withstanding this draw back it is hoped there will be four ex cellent teams on the court by the mid (lie of March. Each girl is urged to come out for practices, and by her support make hers the winning team. -Usc At a recent meeting of the Damas club the following girls were bid: Misses Genevieve McCaw, Elizabeth Stackhouse, Kitty Griff in, Elizabeth Thompson, Anne DuPre and Selina McGregor. We, the women students of the University of South Carolina, do ex tend our heartfelt sympathy to our fellow-student, and friend, Giilette Tolbert, in her recent bereavement. Thelma Lockman, Mayre M. Wall, Mildred Cone. Miss Claudia Bailey spent the week end on the campus. Mrs. Johnston of Florence visited her two daughters, Ida and Florence.
