Thursday, Friday, Saturday WILLIAM HAINES in "West Point" Euphrosyneans Hold Meeting Wednesday Loving Cup to be Awarded Wi ner of Debate Between Girls' Societies The Euphrosynean literary society met for the first time since the holidays on Wednesday afternoon in the Euphradian hall. Miss Gladys Bell, the first speaker on the extemporaneous program discussed the difficulties of transportation in Co lumbia. Miss Harriet Baker gave some interesting campus topics, followved by jokes from Miss Mildred Cone. Miss Theima Lockman was appointed to meet with a representative from the Hypatian society to make arrangements for the loving cup to be awvarded to the Hypa tian society for winning the inter-so ciety debate, that wvas held in chapel sev eral wveeks ago. -Usc Bahemian House and Graydon Annex Ready The two women's annexes, Bohemian House and Graydon H-ouse, which were both damagedl by fire within a few weeks of each other, have been repaired and are agaigggcupied. Some of the mem bers of Phi Clhi club have moved into the Bohemian House in order to make the beginning of a f rat house. The freshmen who were formerly there have moved into the Woman's building. Gray don House is occupied by the same girls who were in it at the time of the fire. Members of the Gamma Sigma club have moved to Mrs. Boineau's on Pick ens street, which they occupy as a club house. Their rooms have also been fill ed by freshmen from there. With all the freshmen not having learned yet that their friends do not smoke in the building and that the tele phone Isn't used after 7:30, it seems al most like September and the beginning BILLY LAVAL COMES TO COACH UNIV. TEAM (2uo asud joj panullU03) "It is the policy of the University of South Caroiina to put all its athletics under the direction of one man. Branch Bocock held this position for several years. Last' spring he severed his' con nection with the University in order to return to his profession and take up the practice of law. "When Mr. Bocock retired, the Uni versity took no immediate action toward securing a man to take his place. Harry Lightsey, who had previously been elect ed as, line coach was elected as head coach for the coming fall, with Mr. McFadden and Mr. Seideman as his as sistants and Mr. Stoney, the freshman coach, was elected as coach of varsity basketball and baseball. "The University feels that it is best to return to its original plan and put test while Sherwood Smith acted as chief marshal. its athletics under the direction of one man. To this end Mr. Laval was elect ed supervisor of coaching." -usc FACUTLY MAKES KNOWN CHOICE OF HONOR CLUB Five Names Given Out by Univ ersity Faculty for Coveted Positions TO BE LAST HONOR CLUB Miss Farrar and Messers Cooper, Whitehead, Edwards and Dent Named Announcement was made this week of the selection of members to the Senior honor club. Five were chosen by the faculty. They are: Judith Farrar, of Columbia; James Fowler Cooper, of Florence; J. D. Whitehead, of Lake City Leslie W. Edwards, of Dariington; and William Dent, of Columbia. These are the last members who will make the honor club as there will be no more selections after this year. Five members from the , senior class have been elected annually, who distin guished themselve in scholarship and in student activities. The Senior honor club was organized by the senior class of 1921. At that time a request was made by the faculty that five seniors selected each year on the basi.i of scholarship, and extra-cur ricular activities and that these five stu dents be grouped together as the Sen ior honor club. The request was grant ed. Seven nien and women were select ed the first year but after that the num ber was reduced to five. At the time of making application for his diploma each senior is requested to .ist his extra-curricular activities. The names and honors of the new members are as follows: Judith Farrar, the only woman stu dent to be selected to the Senior honor club this year, has a high scholastic average, covering a periodl of three years. She is an assistant librarian. James Fowvler Cooper: Honor Conm mnittee 1925-26, 1927-28; Art Editor, :Gagnet ,and Black 1927-28; Omicron Deita Kappa fraternity; "Y" council and cabinet; honorary scholarship in lan guages. J. D.
