Greenville is Meeting Place of Scientist,, South Carolina Academy o: Science to Hold Fourth Annual Meet PROFESSORS WILL SPEAJN Academy Has Doubled Member ship Since Organization Four Years Ago The fourth annual meeting of ti South Carolina Academy of Scenc will meet in Greenville, S. C., on Marc 24th. There will be several interest ing talks by members among whor Carolina professors take a prominer part. The object of the Academy is, to ei courage scientific research, to promot the diffusion of useful scientific know edge, to unify the scientific interest c the state, and investigate any repor on any subject of science or industriE art when called upon by any depari ment of the government. This Aca demy was organized in March, 192 with only thirty members. Since the it has more than doubled its mnember ship and has done much to aid th government in getting out its variot reports from time to time. There w*ll be two sessions. Athletic Association Elects New Officern At a meeting of the Woman's Ath letic Association Monday afternoon 's Davis college, the following were elect ed as managers of the (different sports Misses Leora Johnston, tennis; Annic Truesdale, track ; Mary Goodwin, base. ball; Ruby Carter and Mary C. Emer son, indoor meet ; Annie Sou Langley b)asketball; TIhelma Lockman, hockey Rosalie Turner and Virg'nia Muller hiking. LEGISLATORS ARE STUDENTS AT CAROLINA Three House Members Become Politicians Whilp Still in the University COBB, HALL AND ODUM Propose Modification of Sunday "Blue Law" Bill--Hold Campus Honor. Carolina is doing her part in turning out politic.ans to come to the aid of the country. The University students do not wait until they have received a e degree to enter the field of politics; as e students they become politicians. At b present Carolina is represented in the - house of representatives by Roy C. Cobb, known as "Red" of Blacksburg, t Mims P. Hall of Batesburg, and Lind say G. Odom, of Chesterfield. Mr. Cobb, a student in the graduate school and matheniatic instructor, re ce.ved an A. B. degree from Carolina in 924. He taught physics and geonie try at St. Johns high school at Darling L ton the following two years. While a student at the university, his political ability was displayed by h:s being elected president of the Clario I sophic literary society and vice presi dent of the student body. e In the race for the legislature, Cobb IS beat hs nearest opponent by a 1700 It majority. He expects to enter the law t school next year. Minis P. Hall, a senior in law, beat that murky politician from Lexington county, Milo Smith, for a seat in the legislature. Mr. Hall's political career on the campus has been, so far, pres'dent of the Euphradian literary society, and a clerk of the law association. r Lindsay G. Odom, coming from the r county that bears the name of the et tiquette king, is a senior law student and member of the law association. He, with Cobb and others have proposed the "blue law" mod'fication bill. --U.S.C. P. C.-Citadel Debate to be Held Monday The Citadel and Presbyterian College f will meet in verbal conflict, as part of the annual Little Triangle Debate, Monday night in chapel, starting at 8 o'clock. At a joint session of the two literary societies, Burton E. Shook. Kuphradian, was chosen presiding of ficer- and Harold Hentz. Euphradian, chief marshal. The question to be argued is: "Re solved: That the Primary System of Flections in the Un*ted States should be Abolished." At Columbia, The Cit adel will uphold the affirmative, while Presbyterian College will defend the negative. At the same time, Carolina's affirmative w'll meet The Citadel's neg ativ'e at Clinton while Carolina's nega tive will meet Presbyterian College's a flirmative at Charleston.
