Many telegrams fron al unm andi friends. who were unable to attend, expressing their confidence in Dr. Douglas were read. Dr. Douglas, who delivered the address of the eve ing. was introduced by Christie Benet. He said that leadership was what the state needed miost at p)resent and that the citizens were just in looking to the Ui:versity to stipply it. He also said that scholarship was his chief aim at the University. "Don't judge tile success of iv ad ministration by the size of the enroll ment. Private schools have a right to let students (10 as they please, but an institlt'on supported by state ioney must require an honest day's work. Scholarship will le my chief aim re gardless of how iiuch it decreases the iuilbers." he said. The dining roon w-as furnished with small tables ion which were spring flowers and small garnet and black place cards at each plate. I. likell, Robert Lafaye, Maurice Matteson and lI.dward Hodges, with Berry Seay accompaning on the )'anlo. 1the program was closed by singing the University Alma Mater, "We Hail Thee, Carolina." Campus Seniors Go to Bible Discussions "Y" Analysis Shows That 53 out of 65 Attend Religious Meetings An analysis of the Bible class re cords run by the Y last fall show that 53 out of the 65 seniors on the cam pus were enrolled in the discussion groups as regular members. Of th:s number, 31 did not miss a class in the series and nine have not missed a class during their college life. Other figures on Bible class attendence are as fol lows: 77 juniors, 143 sophomores, 196 freshmen, 14 law students and 12 grad uate students. There are about 625 students on the campus and of this number 494 were enrolled as regular members while another 100 came to the classes as visitors and more or less reg-. ular attendents. The members of the Unive sity quartette w*Il go along to give the musical part of the pragram. The other members of the team have not been definitely decided on yet. It will he remembered that the Clem son Y.M.C.A. had charge of one of the Univers'ty Y meetings last fall and they gave a splendid program. The Clem son Y has adopted the idea of having an exchange programi with Carolina, Furmnam. Wofford, and wth several of the women colleges of the state.
