Gamecock Spurs
Sonic lecturers think the floor a more pleasant spectacle
than the faces of those in their audience.
Ahe student who declares he had to sit up till two
o'clock to study is generally the one who "shot bull" till
eleven.
Every (log has its (lay. How about college students?
A dean of omen is generally a woman. who is dean of
everything but wvometi.
TGhe Gamecock's tail is always feathered but never
tarred.
An abundance of college and university students think.
But what do they think about?

Check Up!
A recent publishing concern annotices 'that there is to
soon appear a book eltitled "Who's Who in the South."
It has been announced that one of its compilers recently
visited Columbia in search of data on prominent Colum
bians and South Carolinians whose names will appear in
the new book.
As students of the University of South Carolina we
should ask ourselves the question "In what year will my
name appear in the "Who's Who in the South?" What is
your outlook on life? What high school pupil or college or
university student has never pictured in his imagination
the (lay when the newspapers would be full of praise for
him or in his imagination pictured the day when a sketch
wouid be devoted to him in his respective place in "Who's
Who in America?"
How near do your activities in the University measure
tip to those imagiqations you had back in high school? It
is true that no college or university student's name will ap
pear in the new book, but it must not be forgotten that
your college career is a preliminary step to what you will
do in later life.
Your university is a little world in itself. There you
mingle with qumerous persons, study the problems that
confront your university, and learn a great deal about the
little world around you. Did you ever stop to think that
the energetic student usually makes the energetic citizen?
The student who likes to study his alma mter, or his "little
world," likes, later in life, to study his "grand monde," or
his big world.
So, at all times it is well to remember those dreams of
the days gone by and check up on yourself to see whether
you are making dreams come true or whether you are
driftiig idly along letting "nature takes its course."
