North Carolina State College is to
offer a Dew course in chemistry to be
. called "Contemporary American Chem
istry." The purpose and nature of
the course made it a distinct benefit
to the science department and, no
' doubt, the novelty of it will add to
its popularity. The following extract
will serve to explain such a course as
is to be offered:
"It has been announced by G. H.
Satterfield, Assistant Professor of
Chemistry, that beginning with the
fall term of next year he will begin
the teaching of a course in historical
chemistry.
"The course will be unique in that
it will be the only course of its kind
being taught in American universities
and colleges. The purpPse of the
course is to study the great Ameri
can chemists and their contributions
to their respective fields of chemistry.
The student studies the makers of his
history, of his literature, and of his
industry, but knows very little of the
makers of his chemistry."

Too often are college newspapers guiity
of giving front page space to fourth or
fifth page articles or vice versa. The
exceptions to this malady are always
worthy of special notice.
An interesting an l enjoyable tradi
tion has grown up at Brenau as we
gather from the foliowing:
"Tle members of the college coin
ntun1tyv were epj'oyably' .,entertained
with a Southern barbecue given by
the college on the grounds of Camp
Takeda. The barbecue is always a
new experience for many of the Bre
nau girls, who conic from other sec
tions of the country. It is a time of
merry-making, a time when students
and members of the faculty meet to
gether to enjoy this typically southern
entertainment."-The Alchemist.

Plagarism-we hear the -incriminat
ing word so often. It is often said
that college students arq regularly
guilty of this crime. What is plaga
rism? It is unauthorized, hidden imi
tat'on. There are many reasons why
we should strictly guard against thi:
practice.
