Woman's A.A. Adopts Rules of Organization Propose to Award Letters--Point System of Selection Favored Action on problems of organization and ruling was taken by the Women's Athletic Association at a meeting held in Davis college Monday. After a thorough discussion, the con stitution, as drawn up by the commit tee and published in the Gamecock last week, was adopted with a few changes. The question of awards was discussed briefly, the point system versus the non-point system. It was decided that the proposed point system would be again considered at a meeting of the association to be held next Monday and a definite decision be made. The point system as proposed is as follows: Baseball, basketball, hockey and ten nis-going out for the class team; 50 75 points; making class team, 100 points; making varsity, 25 extra points. Hiking-100 points for 100 miles. In door gym work-participating in meet., 50-75 points; making class team, whict is chosen on basis of ability, spirit and score made in meet, 100 points; var sity, chosen in the same manner, 25 ex tra'points. Track and field work, same as indoor gym. Details of the conduct of gym meet and track meet will be explained later. In order to gain points in any sport, each contestant must keep strict train ing for five consecutive weeks prelim inary to the final competition in the sport. The manner in which the var sity is to be chosen is yet to be decided The winning of a certairn i:mber of points will be one of the requirements for receiving numerals and letters. Other things, scholarship, ability, sportsmanship, etc., will be determining factors also. Winning the prescribed number of points only will not auto matically entitle the winner to a medal. The awards under consideration are as follows: 1. Numerals for class teams. 2. For proficiency in one sport, in cluding winning a certain number of points in that sport, a symbol, mono gram or letter of some kind. 3. For all-round proficiency, both in team games and in the individual sport (track, gym, hiking, and tennis) in cluding the winning of a certain num ber of points or monogram, different from those in group two. 4. After winning number three, stars will be given for continued pro ficiency, per given number of points above number three. The advantage considered in using the point system is that more girls can win letters than in the other system where only those making class and var sity teams can win letters and in the slogan "All for fun and fun for all", this system seems fairer. Also menm bership is sought in the Athletic Con ference of American College Womenm where the point system is used. - U.s.c. Hurrah l Hurrah l" Al' baba and his forty thieves go on an other raid. The co-ed glee club toure.l the southeastern part of the state last week with its musical comedy "Pretty Cinderella." The trip was declared by the mem bers to have been most enjoyable. The '"Pretty Cinderellas" traveled in a large yellow bus which might easily be taken for a pumpkin. "Pretty 'Cinderella" was welcomed enthusiastically at all three stops: Kingstree, Andrews, and Charleston. The girls were entertaine,l most royally everywhere. The Charles ton presentation was sponsored by the Citadel. The club also enjoyed another short trip this week as guests of the Rotary club of Sumter, at their ladies night banquet in that town. This was re ported to have been a delightful en tertainment for the club as well as the Sumter people, and the members hope to receive many more such invitations - U.S.C. - ;Wauchope Club to .Have Poetry Survey Life and Works of Writers to Be Given and Discussed by Members Survey of modern American poetry, was selected for the following programs by the Wauchope club at its meeting at the home of ElIzabeth Lindsay, Fri clay night. In such discussions the writers life and works will be given in synopsis and then criticized by different members. J. V. Nielsen read a paper entitled "Hades Regained." This was an or'gi nal short story full of wit and humor. Miss ,indsay read a paper on "Con. temporary Women Poets" giving a survey in sketch form of recent writers, with examples of their works. Frank Woodruff read one of his own poems and also a story of his which ap peared in the "Carolinian" last year, entitled "The World Redeemed." As each paper was completed the members expressed themselves pro an I con. With the 1'terary discussions over a salad course was served. - U.S.C. - Co-ed Hiking Club In Good Condition Some people ehjoy a stroll on Sun days, but who would enjoy a good old hike? Thte co-edls have a hiking club now, and it is said to be comning along at a great rate. They go ont jaunts several times each week. Trhere were official hikes last Saturday, Truesday, and Friday. All co-eds are invited to join these trips. The only requirement is that not less than five shall go in a party.
