A most interesting group of speakers
inc,uding Gov. McLeod has been se
cured for the remainder of the year
according to announcements frim Les
lie Edwards, chairman of the Religious
meeting committee of the Universty Y.
The list for the fall has been complete;
with one exceptio,; and the commi:cee is
trying to complete that Z+ the present
time.
Robt. A. Torrey, one of the most
famous Bble students and lecturers to
students of the last two generations has
been asked to spend a week at the Uni
vrsity during December. Mr. Torrey
is anxious to come provided suitable
dates can be arranged. He has spoken
to students atl over America, England,
France and Germany and is the author
of Torrey's Bible hints and many other
publications.
Besides Dr. Torrey, the list contains
a number of other prominent men. On
Sunday, November 21, the committee
has invited Mell Trotter, the man who
has made famous the Pacific Garden
Mission, the place where Billy Sunday
was converted. Foltowing Trotter, will
be our own George "'Juckie" Belk, who
made all state in three sport events while
a student at Carolina. Belk is now a
Presbyterian minister and was heard by
University students before.
Dr. Henip Philbips, rector of the
Trinity Church and characterized by the
Atlanta Georgian as the greatest South
ern football player of all times will talk
on Sunday, December 5th on the sub
ject of prayer.
Fgetcher Brockman, General secretary
of the National committee of China
and the man of whom it was said that
he had more influence in China than
any of the diplomats of any govern
ment, will speak at the first meeting
following the return from the holiadys.
Brockman is a citizen of Co'umbia and
happens to be coming to Columbia for
his vacation at that time. He is weil
remembered by the older students of the
University for his wonderfully insppring
addresses at BWue Ridge several sum
mers back.
The Relgious meeting committee is
trying to get a series of speakers that
will challenge the Ulniversity student
body. The attendance at the meetings
so far this year has been good and with
a list of speakers like the above it ought
to be even better for the rest of the
year.

With 563 points to its cred't, tene
ument 7, has again taken the lead in the
Bible Discussion Group race.
The standing of several of the tene
nments was changed at the Tuesday
night meeting when the relationships
l)etween men and women was the sub
ject under discussion. An unusually
large attendance was noted at most of
the meetings.
Tenement 24, is forced to be content
w'th second place for a week and the
race between these two leaders goes
merrily on. Thirteen points separate
the two leading tenements, while tene
ment 20 stands in third place with 532
points.

All students at the University from
Sumter County, will meet in chapel,
Monday, November 15, 1926, at seven
p. mn., for the purpose of reorganizing
the Sumter County club. This meeting
is called by the president of the club
last year, and he urges every "Game
cock from the Gamecock County" to
be present when the clock strikes seven
on Monday. The meeting will not last
more than a half hour.
