CAROLINA Terriers Give Gamecocks a Real Battle Look Like German Police Dogs and Give Carolina Great Scare CAROLINA WINS 27-13 Wimberley Returns Punt Sixty Yards Through Wofford Teaa for Touchdown Anothe, page has been written in the football history of the 1926 season -and this page is not without its dark blotches. Carolina won over Wofford, but the sportswriters give the Terriers credit for playing just about as good a game as the mighty Gamecocks did. It is the second year that the Metho dist college has coeic to Columbia with everyone expecting Carolina to "snow them under." Both times, exactly the opposite has taken place. The final score was 27 to 13. The remarkable thing is that Wofford outrusted the Garnet and Blanck to score the first maker of the contest. The old "pep" seemed to be lacking in the other members. Wofford seemed to define every play, time after time their tackles smashing through the "big red line" to smear the Carolina backs before they reached the line of scrimmage. A team can't help losing, but there is something wrong when a presumably well trained team makes as many fumbles as they have in the fast two games. To their credit we can say the valor of the North Caro l'na linesmen played no small part in the victory. South Carolina's plays were smothered before the backs were able to get into motion. Bill Rogers knifed through twvo or three times for gains. Had he started the rally that he put in nmotion at the b)eginning of the contest instead of at the close, the sory of the game might have been greatly changed.
