VEW BULLETINS I ARE SENT OUT BY UNIVERSITY CMANY AS ANNOUNCEMENTS ')issertation by Doctor Parkin. son Published in Form of Bulletin il si Daring the summer months the Uni- h versity Extension Department pre- 0 pared and published several bulletins. The most of these bulletins are in the tl forms of special announcements by ir the various schools on the campus, in cluding those of education, law, com cerce, and engineering. Besides these d a bulletin containing 270 pages has been written by Dr. Parkinson. In each of these bulletins issued by the various schools are printed the fac- a ulty of each, the courses of study of fered, and special additional informa tion. The one issued by the school of a education contains a list tf the schol arship appointments from each county and those appointed at large. Teach ers' scholarships are discussed in de tail along with their requirements and dates for examinations. The bulletin issued by the school of commerce is one containing full an"l complete information about this school. a Several excerpts from the general cat alog are printed therein, some being C the requirements for admission, medals 1 offered for work done in this depart ment,, and requirements of special j( students. The names and addresses, along with the last school attended, of all the students are printed on the last pages of the bulletin. Several pictures of campus scenes and that of the stu dents registered in this school are also printed. Doctor Parkinson, while at Columb'a University studying for his Ph. U. de gree, prepared a detailed dissertation p which has been published by the ex- p tension department in the form of a cl bullet'n. The title is "The Professional 7 Preparation and Certification of White Elementary and Secondary Public fc School Teache; s in South Carolina ' Several copies of this work were print- G ed and released by Columbia Univer sity. Contained in it are many care fully prepared and valuable tables which will prove of great help to stu- n dents of Education and to South Ca ro -nians as a whole.s - U.s.c. - h Sam Ready Elected e to 'Y' Field Council I Members of Council Map Out Objectives and Plans of the Southern Y.M.C.A.'s Sam Ready of the University of South Carolina went to Blue Ridge, North Carolina, yesterday afternoon to attend a meeting of the Field Coun cil for the Southern Region of the Stu (lent Y.M.C.A. Ready was elected to this place along with Geore Jeffires of Furman at the meeting of t he south C&.ohnta st.e te council last summer. Thlere are two meni on the council and each of thy dlenominations of the south had a few Alumni fro mvarious colleg;'. 'This organization has for its work the mao ping out of the objectives to be sug gestedl to tile 65 student Y.M.C.A.'s in the South and alro they plan and carry out the program for Blue Ridge each summer. It is understood that the main work of the council this yearI is to plan thoroly the meeting at Blue Ridge next summer where representa tives from the Y.M.S.A.'s in the col lege will hold a meeting with represen tatives from the Y.W.C.A.'s. Mr. Readly will return on Monday, making the trip both ways thru~ the country in conmpany with Mr. B. A. The tea room was crowed with a nice looking hunch of prospective men, and the club itself, was there in full. The presi dent, Miss Elizabeth Lindsay, presided. The following constitution was adopted by the association: The constitution of the co-ed associa tion shall be that of the student body with the following additions: Sec. 1. All women students shall be Article II-Sec. I. The officers of members of -the co-ed association. this body shall be president, vice-presi dent and secretary. The president to be a member of the .senior class. Sec. 2. The president shall be ex officio member of the student council. Sec. 3. The co-ed association shall hoid its elections as called for in Article II, Section 7, of the Student Body Con stitution. Article III-Section 1. All officers of the association shall perform the cus tomary duties entitled by their office. -- u.s.c. - History Club to Hold First Meeting Soon Professor Ferrell to Read Paper Several Matters to Be Discussed The first meeting of the Graduate History club will be held next F; i(a' night, October 15, at 7:15 p. m. in rovir 7 of Davis college. Professor Ferrell, new member of the faculty of the History Department who received his Doctor's degree at the University of Wisconsin, will give a paper on "The Decline of Imperial. ism." Mr. James Hicks, now a grad nate student at the University, will be the critic for this paper which is to be the only one given at the first meet ig. It is expected that several new members will be elected at the meet mng, over which Professor A. C. Wii gus, who was elected president for the coming term, will pres'de. All the old members are urged to be present Friday night since several matters of importance to the club are to be discussed.
