CHANGES MADE IN DINING HALL A T UNI VERSIT Y MORE FLOOR SPACE NOW Service to Be Improved by Mak ing Changes in Dining Hall and Kitchen Steward's Hall, the University din ning room, has undergone a complete interior renovation, and is now daily accomodating a large number of stu dents. Additional floor space has been ob tained by incooperating the old waiting room and class room as part of the main hall, entrance now being through a spacious sun parlor, built on the east side of the bui!ding. The sun parlor is one of the newest construction, has ata ple sitting space, a waiting room as well as a convenient entry. All interior woodwork, as well as the wallg, and the ceiling, has been re painted, and this, with an improved system of ventilation, makes the din ning room much more attractive and comfortable. Within the next few days the management plans to install thru out, electric light shades of the same type as those at present in place, in suring a more efficient and uniform lighting system. Service will be greatly faciliated by a number of improvements in the din ning room and kitchen. Two new cafeteria style counters have been pur chased, and though only one is in place, the other will be shortly and a double line system inaugurated. By this system twice as many students can be served as before in the same time. The inconvenience of standing in line' will be removed. New equipment in the kitchen in cludes a large range, and the latest type dishwasher. Concrete flooring has re placed pf"-t of the wooden floors, and at the south end several front windows have been built the entire lenght of the side. Many conveniences have been added for the personal comfort of the kitchen force. Charlie Ford, head cook, who has served seventeen years for university students, will again lend his capable services in this important department. William Henry, second cook for fifteen years, will continue this year as his assistant. The remainder of the kit chen force are all versed in this work. All having had long experience in the University's employ. - U.S.C. - COLLEGE NIGHT STUNTS DEPICTED CAMPUS LIFE (Continued From Page One) spirit of them. He explained what the publication meant to campus life, and the opportunities they offer. As a finish to his speach the college night edition of the Gamecock was distri buted among those present. Mr. Douglas McKay spoke for the alumni, and advised the freshmen to take full advantage of the opportuni ties offered. He declared that a college was one place where a man got more for his investment than he put irito it. As an alumnus, he felt that he han not done the school all that he could have done while here. In closing he said, "Do things with all your strength, ability, and will." "Intercollegiate athletics, today, oc cupy a most important place in college activities, and athletics come into con tact with more persons than any other extra-curricula activity," declared Coach Branch Bocock as .speaker -for athletics. He further begged the stu dents not to violate Carolina's athletic traditions, and called for a demonstra tion of good sportsmanship towards all visiting teams. Music was furnished at intervals by the orchestra. College Night was concluded with a pep meeting, led by cheer leader Jim my Baldwviu, and his assistants. The old pep fairly oozed over the chapel. At the end all filed out of the chapel singing "We will ride old Clemson on the raiP", and then staged the annual "shirt-tail" parade up town.
