NEW CON! Article I - Members Section 1. All regular matriculate! of and candidates for degrees in the University shall be members of' th< Student Body. Article II - Officers and Elections Sec. 1. The officers of this body shal be President, Vice-President, Secretar3 and Treasurer: The President to bc the President of the Senior Academi4 Class, the Vice-President to be tlu President of the Senior Law Class, the Secretary and Treasurer to be Presi. dent of the Junior Academic Class. Sec. 2. The Student Body shall have as a governing board a Student Coun cil to be composed of thirteen (13 members, to be constituted as follows the Presdients of the four Academic classes, the Presidents of the threc Law classes, the President of the In ter-Club Association, and one (1) the Co-Ed Association, and one (1; member from each of the four literarN societies, such members to be definitely elected for that purpose. Sec. 4. Each class shall elect its of ficers, in the spring for the following year on the (lay five (5) weeks, next preceding Commencement Day, elect ions to be effective with the opening of the succeeding session: provided, how ever, that all classes save the rising Senior Class, may hold their election! within two weeks after the days fixec by this section. Sec. 5. Each Class shall have the following officers: President, Vice. President, Secretary and Treasurer and Historian. Sec. 6. The Freshman class shall at this election elect two (2) of its members, one a co-ed, to be mem hers of the Honor Committee. Th( Freshman Class shall elect its officer! on the sixth Saturday following matri culation. This election shall be con ducted by the Student Council, an< shall be by secret ballot. Sec. 7. The Freshman Law Clas: shall elect its officers on th fourth Sat urday following date of matriculation It shall at this time also elect one (1: of its members to be a member of th< Honor Committee. :ts members, .one a co-ed, to be mem bers of the Honor Committee. Sec. 8. The Inter-Club Association and the Co-Ed Associat'on shall hok their elections in the Spring withir two weeks after the day five (5) weeks next, preceding Commencement Day such elections to be effective upon th< opening of the succeeding session. Sec. 9. The term of office shall b< from the opening of the session thrt the final Commencement Day. Sec. 10 Within two weeks following date of matriculation the chairman oi the Student Council shall call a meet ing of the Council for the pur~pose 0 making nominations for the member: of the Honor Committee. These members so elected shal themselves elect a chairman for th< Honor Committee. Article HII -- Duties of Officer:, Sec. 1. It shall be the duty of th< President to preside over all meeting of the Student Body, to announce th< business before the assembly in the ored in which it is to be acted upon t< inform the assembly, when necessary on points of order or practive perti nent to pending business. The Presi (lent shall call meetings only whel authorize to do so by the Studen Council. Sec. 2. It shall be the duty of th Vice-President to preside in the ab~ sene of the President: in the absenc JTITUTION I of both the President and the Vice President. the duty of presiding shall i devolve upon the Secretary and Treas urer. Sec. 3. It shall be the duty of the Secretary and Treasurer to take and I I preserve legible minutes of all Student Body assemblies, to preserve and dis pense such funds as may come into h's hands. Sec. 4. It shall be the duty of the Student Council to conc'uct all neces sary correspondence relating to the Student Body or to the interests of any member thereof. It shall be the duty of the Student Council to trans act all business which does not by its nature necessitate the action of the Student Body in assembly. It shall be the duty of the Student Council to conduct all elections in the Student c B3ody by secret ballot, only nomina tions for which elections shall be made in Student Body assembly, and it shall t be the duty of the Student Council to I announce the results of said elections. It shall be the duty of the Student I Council to authorize the President to - call all Student Body meetings. a Sec. 5. The President of the Stu dent Body shall be ex officio Chairman I of the Student Council. It shall re quire a two-thirds majority of the Student Council to constitute a quo ruin. majority of the quorum pres ent shall he sufficient to conduct all business. C Sec. 6 The Chairman shall call meet ngs of the Student Council on the first Wednesday of each school month, and at all other times that it may be deemed advisable. 4 Article IV - Honor Principle and Or ganization Sec. 1. The Student Body takes it for granted that each student is a gentleman and a man of honor until he proves himself to be otherwise. It is the duty of each student to teport such infractions of the Honor Principle as comie to his notice. The duty of judi cial action upon infractions of the Honor Principle reported rests only 1 upon the Honor Committee. Sec. 2 The Honor Committee shall be t composed of eleven (11) members, who shall sit in judgement upon all breaches reported. Sec. 3. Johi PROPOSED the inability of any members to serve in any particular trial, the chairman Af the committee is authorized to ap )oint as many students as may be nec !ssary to make up the deficiency for hat particular trial. Sec. 4. Uuon any trial, a majority ote plus one of the members assem )led shall be necessary for conviction. Sec. 5. Any student convicted shall iave right of appeal to the Student 3ody, provided at least two of the nembers sitting upon the trial make equest to the Student Council for such tppeal to the Student Body assembly. Sec. 6. All proceedings shall be con lucted in secret. Article V - By-Laws Sec. 1. The rules contained in Rob rt's Rules of Order shall govern the tudent Body in all cases where they re not inconsistent with the Consti ution and By-laws of the Student ody. Sec. 2. Business may be transacted >y a majority of those present. Sec. 3. Proposed amendments and .ditions to the Constitution and By ,aws shall llbe submitted in writing o the Student Council. If approved hey shall be submitted to the Student ody assembly and shall require three eadings no reading within an inter al of three days from the preceding. 'he proposed amendment may, be dis ussed only after the second and third eadings. It shall require a two-thirds ote of those present to carry the h'rd reading. Sec. 4. The May Queen shall be lected the second Friday in April, the oronation to be held during the first veek of May, only Juniors and Sen onr Co-Ids shall be eligible for the >ffice of May Queen. Sec. 5. The cheer leader shall be lected from the Student Body the econd Tuesday in May, his election to e effective during the succeeding ses ion. Sec. 6.
