Junior-Senior
Appoint Committees
To Begin Activities

Finance and Program Com
mittees to Start Plans
At last a realization of many a jolly
junior's hope is beginning to be ful
filled, for the discussion of the annual
junior-senior banquet was begun last
Saturday at chapel hour, and continued
this morning.
This event is always considered one
of the leading social events, if not the
greatest social happening, of the school
year. All the honor and glory of the
annual affair is to be carried out with
even greater splendor and magnifi
cence if the class of '27 is able to carry
out their plans.
No definite action has yet been
taken, but committees ha' beca ap
pointed to clear up the preliminary
difficulties that must be settled befort
a date can be set. It has only been
decided, upon a motion by Cecil W.
Scott, that the class will go ahead
with arrangements for a banquet at
the Jefferson at some date in the near
future.
Bill Boyd, president of the class,
filled the chair on both occasions, and
appointed the committees to begin
work.
The finance committee is composed
of : William 0. Varn, chairman ; Joe
Savitz, and Ed Robinson.
The program committee is com
posed of: Johnny Pate, chairman;
Ethel Ann McLure, Sam Ready, Eliza
beth Lindsay, Cecil Scott and Eleanora
Beasley.
The report of both committees was
heard. The chairman of the finance
committee, Mr. Varn, stated the steps
that have been taken in working out
the cost. The class hopes to be able
to make it a junior for senior affair if
the financial end is not too heavy for
them to carry. Every junior in the
University will be consulted by mem
bers of this committee in regard to
the provision of funds.

CO-EDS SEARCH CAMPUS
Music Makers Finally, After a
Hard Struggle, Go to Press
Club Quarters to Play
It seems that the infant orchestra
formed by the Carolina Co-eds is in
for a real "struggle for existence",
judging from the hardships it has al
ready met with in the first few meet
ings. On Monday night, when the first
try-outs were to be held, the little
band journeyed all over the campus
hunting and at last almost literally
begging for a place to hold the meet
ing.
After it was decided the Woman's
Building could not be used, Flinn Hall
was tried but an orchestra practice
for the boys was taking place. They
were shoved from the design room on
the second floor by a Y.M.C.A. Coun
cil meeting, on the third floor the doors
could not be opened.
At last the desperate musicians
rushed to the Press club room in the
Extension Building assured of peace
there. But no 1 No lights could be
found. Bulbs had to be brought and
put into the sockets. Just as the light
flashed on and everyone breathed a
sigh of relief the girl who was stand
ing on a chair and table to screw the
bulb in lost her balance. (Probably she
was shocked) and fell over two chairs
and to the floor with such a heavy
tumble that one thought she surely
had a spite at the floor.
"Such is life" though and only a
few of the things that always enter
into the organization of a new project.
Much interest is being shown in the
try-outs and plans of the girls. About
ten girls are on the list of ukuleles
and seven mandolins are already lined
up. With several banjos and guitars
the co-eds should have a string or
chestra capable of accomplishing
something really worth while.
