The Gamecocks rode on the crest of
the wave of victory again last night.
taking the College of Charleston into
camp by a 37 to 20 score. The gani
was one of the roughest of the year.
Many times did the players hump the
floor during the night and several men
were put out of the game on accou-n1
of fouls. The game was hard fought
throughout both sides keeping up a
terrific pace. The Gamecocks showed
their superiority in the indoor game
clearly, though.
The College, led by Fritz Von Kol
nitz, had a well coached team that
knew the game and were snapping at
the Bird's heels most of the time. The
Gamecocks were in a winning mood.
though and were not to be denied. Bo
cock's men kept up that very good
habit of playing together.
Buster Holcombe led the field in
scoring, he dropping the leather
through for the sum of thirteen points.
Buster seemed determined to show off
to a good advantage against his fellow
townsmen and indeed he (lid it well.
His floor game was better than unual,
and he got more than his share of tip
offs. Farr started his first game of th'
season and played well. He and Fair
worked well together. Fair had his
eye on the basket once again and cage-l
several beauties. Rogers was in the '
limelight again last night by reason
of his stellar playing. One shot that
was of the spectacular variety was
made by Holcombe when he spun th
ball through with one hand from th'
extreme corner of the court.
For the Maroons, Seabeck and Tay
lor were the aces. Taylor kept the (
ball traveling in the direction of the
Garnet and Black goal every time he
got anywhere near it and got several
pretty shots also. Seaheck was high
scorer for the Maroons and he and
Taylor worked well together. Mauro
showed flashes of brilliancy but was
for the most part too slow to stop the
Gamecock forwards.
Carolina took the lead at the open
ing of the game by virtue of a field
goal and got another point by a foul
shot. The College got a goal and '
Carolina rang up several in rapi(l suc
cession. The first half ended with
Carolina leading 19 to 10. The secondl S
half increasedl in roughness with the
scoring about the same. The final
score was 37 to 20.

work. E~ach class is divided into
squads in order to make the work moret
easy with a small amount of equip- t

IORIDA FELL before the Game
cock's onslaught Friday night. The
'Gators followed the route taken
by the Citadel as they were not
able to penetrate the Bird's de
fense or stop their forwards.
['HE ALLIGATORS COULD not ap
preciate the value of passing as
they can real estate. They tried
many desperate shots from all
angles and parts of the floor.
['HE BIRD'S DEFENSE was respon
sible for this to a great extent,
though. Bocock has given his men
a five man defense that connot be
penetrated successfully, it seems.
['HE YELLOW JACKETS from
Georgia Tech also bit the dust
Saturday night making it two
victories over the worthies from
Atlanta this year for the Game
cock's.
'ECH COULD NOT stop the Game
cock machine, either. It seemed
as though the 'Clemson victory
early last week aroused the Bird's
ire for they have been mowing
down their opponents ruthlessly
ever since.
,AST W,EK W.\S a successful one
for the Gamecocks as Citadel,
Florida. and Tech were defeated
and Clemson 'was the only team
coming to Columbia during that
time that could claim victory over
the Garnet and Black.
VHICH IS A good record for any
team. To win three games out of
four against such opponents as the
above named were is a feat for
any team to be proud of.
'HE BIDDIES KEPT up the reputat
ion of the Garnet and Black by
winning every game on their road
trip. These victories came over
Furman, Clemson, and P. C. Then
Monday night the "frosh" took the
Newberry freshman into camp by
a good margin.
OACH STONEY seems to have his
men headed for the state title this
year and nothing else will satisfy
him. le has welded a smooth run
ning machine out of his material
that is a terror to any bunch of
freshmen in this state.

Th'le Gamecocks continued their
tarch to victory Friday night by over

ast andl exciting game. TIhe Birds took

nd( held it the whole night altho the

Ilack in the last stanza. Florida had
goodl team but the perfect (defense
f the Birds and the dlazzling attack
f the Gamecock forwards, especially
a the first half proved too much for
Bill Rogers was the outstanding star
f the night. He played a floor game
hat left nothing to be dlesiredl and his
hooting was deadly. Bill handled the
ather ar; though it wvere a baseball
nd his bullet like passes reminded one
f the gridiron. Seideman was again
ne of the bright lights of the game
or the Gamecocks. "Si" performed
obly under his basket and showed
ome pretty floor work. Holcombe's
hooting was good enough to keep the
samecocks out in front. He also gave
he Florida center a bad time for the
p-off. Holccmbe is one of the best
he 'Gators to withstand.

GAMECOCKS PLAY WELL
Golden Tornado No Match In
Great Cage Gams Last
Satrurday Night
The Yellow Jackets of Tech came
out of Atlanta last Saturday night with
the avowed purpose of gaining revenge
on the Carolina Birds for a loss suf
fered in Atlanta at the hands of those
feathered creatures a few weeks back
but the best they could take away
with them was the short end of a 36 to
18 score. It was just a case of too
much class in the Garnet and Black
play for the Golden Tornado to cope
with. The Birds showed their intent
ion to win that basketball game from
the very beginning and they never let
up except for a few minutes sufficient
ly to give Tech any hope during the
entire night.
Jumping into the lead at the out
set, the Yellow Jackets appeared to be
"long gone" for about a minute but
the Gamecocks soon righted matters
by several beautiful shots and from
then on it was all Carolina. Bill Rog
ers, Seideman and Fair were perhaps
the brightest stars for the Gamecocks
but Holcombe, Russonmano, and Swink
were not anywhere behind them in
the matter of honors. The Gamecocks
functioned as a machine, each man do
ing his part and doing it well.
The great Wycoff came with the
Yellow Jackets and proved that he was
something else besides a football
player. He sank a couple of nice shots
and played a good floor game besides.
Wilder and Wilde were about the best
for the Jackets in the matter of scor
img.
Tech took the lead in the first few
seconds of play but was tied and pass
ed by the Birds. Just before the end
of the first half the Birds were leading
by some six or eight points but Tech,
with a mighty spurt, came up within
two points of the Gamecocks, the half
ending 14 to 12. Carolina got a foul
shot to open the second stanza and
Tech tied up the game with a basket
and foul shot. The Gamecocks soon
put on a scoring frenzy that left Tech
far behind and had the game on ice
before much more time had passed.
