FOSTER LEA VES
AFTER SERIES OF
SERIOUS TALKS
HONORED AT ! BANQUET
Here Under Auspices Of "Y"
Stressed Harmony Of Reli
gion and Science.
Dr. Allyn K. Foster concluded his
series of addresses at the University
Tuesday andd left for Charlestown
where he will visit sonic friends be
fore resuming his series at Clemson.
Dr. Foster brought a series of mes
sages to the University student body
which were unique in language and
presentatiot He says that he ,is
bringing the same message of the
reality of Christ in Scientific terms
and modern (lay language in the state
ment repeated many times "Don't
think that God said one thing in reve
lations and another in nature. The
law of the spirit of life is the same in
both."
He repeated many times that if we
should sum up all the facts that science
had to date been able to gather and
arranged them in order so that. we
could express the realities of the Uni
verse, we would find God in the center
of it all. He stressed again and again
in his talks that all the new ideas
of the scientists themselves when they
philosophied about their findings in
the realms of science and the meaning
of them in terms of life was toward a
conception of God that was of the
highest kind.
In another of his lectures he talk
ed of the psychology of religious ex
periences, especially the psychology of
prayer, showing that prayer was a real
and vital experience in life, and that
prayer was.a real communion with God.
The great contribution that Dr. Fos
ter made to the life of the University
was to restate for a great many stu
dents realities that had come blur
red thru contact with a different type
f though't.
Dr. Foster was guest at a smoker
at the Green Parrot Tea Room Tues
day night just following the close of
the series of addresses at the Univer
ity. A splendid chicken dinner was
erved and afterwards Dr. Foster
