MANY MATTERS DISCUSSED

At a joint meeting of the Euphra
dian and Clariosophic Societies Tues
day night many matters of import
ance were discussed. Jack Douglas,
prEsident of the Euphradian Society,
was asked to preside by President
Cob.
The first thing to come before the
joint meeting was relative to the
Carolinian medal for the student
essay. This was won last year by
Isadore Polier, but never has becn
awarded. A committee was appointed
to investigate further and report back
at a later neting.
Furnian Gressette called to the at
tention of the assembly the move on
the campus for another society. R.
M. Smith spoke against such a move.
Thomas moved that the joint assem
bly go on record as being opposed
to another literary society and that,
a resolution to this affect be pre
sented to the faculty. Collier and
Black pleaded to let the matter stand
as at present. On a motion by Earl
Black the motion was tabled, to be
discussed at a future me,'ting.
Gn the suggestion of Ralph Ramsey
a committee was appointed to look
into the matter of medals for the
icmbrLIs of the annual staff. Bass
asked fcr sonic action relative to the
inter-society declamation freshmen
contest. It sceied that the design
for this medal had been lost. A
motion was passed to have a new
design made and have it presented to
the jeweler.
At this point of the meeting some
thing was said conctrning the elec
tion of the Garnet& Black staff.
Giessette criticised the present sys
tci and said thetinie was here for
reform. It was decided that this was
a matter ior the student body to

by the student body. Harris and
lilack made pleas for action on this
matter. Fraim amended the motion
to appoint a coniiiittet to investigate
the campus political scandal. After
a flow of more oratory the iotion
was passed. President Smith, of the
student body, promised to have a
called inceting toiorrow morning to
look into this matter.

COSTANZO CONDEMNS

Definitely Denies Refamatory Rumors
Costanzo Not a Member of Italian
Navy-He Wears Regula
tion Trousers.
In a statement made public this
morning, Mr. Joseph Costanzo, ele
gant son of romantic Italy, flatly de
nied that he belongs to the Italian
navy. He said that insidious rumors
have reached his attention that.the
costuies in which he attends classes
are the uniform of the Italian navy.
"I am unable to see why such charges
can be made against me," he oaid.
"for altho I would be proud to serve
under Italy's colors, that feeling of
patriotism is in no wise responsible
for the thirty inches of pants I wear
al)out my ankles, which custom is
actuated solely by my desire to keep
a little ahead of the styles, and so I
will do all in my power to run to
earth these annoying defamations."

nice for her to invite her friend from
the Seminary to a party, she demurely

News certainly travels fast on the
campis. Monday morning C. B. Wil
liams asked a co-ed whom he hadn't seen
since Friday, "How did you like the
pageant at Shandon Baptist Church last
night?" Now C. 1B. wasn't there, and
I'd like to k.now just who told him.
The other morning I was sitting in the
library, presumably studying, and as it
was rather (lark the lights were on.
Presently Kershaw Walsh came in and
the lights went out. Do you wonder?

Wednesday two of the co-eds having
nothing else to do, decided to try their
hands at "barn-yard golf". Presently
each of them had a partner, and it was
n't long before our amiable Purley
Tompkins ambled over to referee.
Sounds exciting, but it wasn't.
