TENNIS TOURNAMENT BE GINS NEXT WEEK As is the custom a spring competitive tennis tournamont is usually held on the Carolina campus. Several weeks ago an article appeared in the cohins of the GAMECOCK Setting forth the plans for this tournament. The officers of the tennis club ha'vc submitted the fol lowing list of men and propose to start the fireworks next week. 1. Sparkma. S. 'T. 2. Singleton, R. 3. Bryson, ). 4. Wilson, P. A. 5. I f any names have been omitted the party so aggrieved may have full jus tice by seeing one of the officers. His name will be added at the bottom of the list and he shall play the man just above him. This plan is to get the itu best on the campus, so as to start real practice for the State Meot later in April. PING PONG The other day as I was getting a drink of water at the fountain in Flint Hall, I heard some one say in a soft 4one "Thirty love." Nly first impres sion was that there was an amourous affair of some nature taking place in the reading room. leing in an inquisitive state of mind, I decided to investigate. Ul)on opening .tie dor to my surprise I beheld "Aristotle" Westmoreland and Sarah Meredith knocking a celhuloid ball over what appeared to be a green mosquito met. Upon inquiry I was in formed that this was the grea-t game of Ping Pong. This game ha shecome quite popular in the last two weeks. and all day long the "Flitn iall Cowbmys" hear the clicking of the celluloid ball as it bounces ()ver .the table and comles ill contact with the bats. There are sofie who have already bec'me quite proic ient in the game. F-or instance there is that short b)y, "Lanky" 1idge, who. having conquered all contestants for the crowii as chlampi(Ion of Greenville cIIn ty. has come to) the University in search of new fields to cOInUor. IIe says that 'the "Ily reasmo he ever loses a gamne is because lie gets tired of having to tip tfme in order to lomk over the top of <le table. Others among the knights of the saidwpaered raquet are: "Iahe" Adams, "Skeet" Gasque, Nelse Brant, Pilgrim, and even "R. G." himself. Pil grim appears to have Imade unusual progress. In fact this game has hecomie so pop Ilar, the athletic austhorities have de cided to put 411it a pimg pm)nug teamli. Coach IelI has is.sued rders for all the pilig pImg warriors to report for piraot ice. Alt houimgh ni dlefinite schiedl uile. has bmeen airaniged, gamnes have bieein secuired wvithi Not re D ame.
