Each of them teitified as to how he had been personally benefited dur the stay of these men. They also recom mended that as many of the other stu dents as possible talk with the evangelis 3 tic workers and attend their meetings 3 in the different tenements. It was the A belief of the speakers that the work done on the campus by the visitors dur ing the preceding week was a blessing to the University and to its student body. This wvas the first meeting of the Y. M. C. A. under the new administra tion of Mr. 0. D. Johnson. The good attendakice and the interest shown in general promises greater things for the Y. M. C. A. in the future. Thornwell Club Entertained By Dr. and Mrs. Wauchope The regular monthly meeting of the 'Thornwell Club was held on last Thurs day evening at the home of Dr. and Mrs. G. A. Wauchope on the University cam pus, H. U. Sharp presiding. Frank N. D. Buchman, who at the time was con ducting a personal evangelistic revival among the students, brought a special message to the members of the club. The other members of Buchman's party who were present were H. Thompson, of Denmark; A. S. Louden Hamilton, of Scotland, and John Munn, Bob Ames and Dan .Ecker, undergraduates of Col gate University, Utica, N. Y. A buffet supper, served to the club and its guests by Misses Virginia Wau chope and Agnes Carson, was greatly en joyed by all present. .The Thornwell Club is composed of 15 University men who have pledged themselves to devote their lives to Chris tian work in Foreign Fields. Has First Session-Professor Rowe Addresses Student Engineers The Homes Chapter of the American Association of Engineers held its first regular meeting in LeConte College last Friday evening. All members of the A. A. E. in Columbia were invited to be present at this meeting. A very inter esting and instructive program was car ried out, as follows: Address of wel come, by Jesse Humphries; "Rules and Regulations," by A. E. Hane; "Indus trial Leadership," by C. B. Parsons; "Pile Driving," by Dan Blake; "Concrete Form," by R. F. Gambrill; "Anatomy of Concrete Houses," by Bill Coker; "Jokes," by H. M. Desportes, and "Cur rent Events," by E. Scroggie. The speaker of the evening was Pro fessor W. E. Rowe, dean of the En gineering School,. who gave a very in terestihg lecture on "The. Adjustment of Ship Compasses." Professor Rowe; during the war, had charge of adjust ing ship compasses for John E. Hand and Son of Philadelphia. S. R. Sever, president of the chapter and a member of the senior class, presided. The next meeting will be held in LeConte College, Room 204, at 7:30 p. m., on April 2bth. Advisory Board Awards Letters to Co-Ed Basketball Team The Athletic Advisory Board, at its last meeting, decided to award block letters to the mqmbers of the 1923 Cc-ed basketball team. The Co-ed block "C" is to resemble tle varsity letters with the exception that the letters "B. B." within the "C" shall be placed diagonally instead of perpendicularly. The follow co-eds made 'their letters: Claire Cant well, Dorothy Allen, Sarah Merideth, Frances Wannamaker, Lillian Barrow and Em Wilson. Miss Thelma Penland was awarded the Manager's "C" with bar, and Miss Cantwell the Captain's crescent. This is the first time that any mimbers of a co-ed team at the University of South Carolina have been awarded the highly coveted block "C"s.
