H,ewitt Fulton, playing his first full game in a Garnet and Black uni form, beyond question set a new mark in quarterback play on Carolina field. "The State" says of him: "Cool to the point of frigidity he ran his team with out an error, olayed a dashing offen sive and calculating defensive game that extricated the Gamecocks from several dangerous positions and threw passes with a skill that may not be equalled for many a (lay." Bill Holland was a fit co-star; lie tore through the line in battering ram style, plunged over for three of the four touchdowns, kicked three goals, and played a ster ling defensive game. "Shag" Simmons was right on the job at his position at tackle, and the way that boy "took 'em out" was a wonder. Theni there wis Johnny Mac, Lightsey, Ambs and all the rest of them, each man playing stellar ball. For Furman the best work was done by McCurry. This shifty back was a hard main to stop, both in running back punts and from scrimmage, and (lid much of the gaining for his team. "Dug" Poteat ran well, passed well, and saved the Hornets from a shutout when lie caught a pass from McCurry and ran 32 yards for the touchdown. Captain "Dizzy" McLeod and Buyck played the best ball in the line.
