The Chanticleer Club.
One of the most important and least
known organizations on the campus is
the Chanticleer Club that was organized
about the middle of last year by a num
ber of the students with the assistance
of Dr. Waushope, who is the honorarv
president of the club. This club is
composed of the sixteen men who have
shown themselves most capable along
literary lines and at the first meeting
next Tuesday night the vacancies caused
by last years graduation will be filled.

second year law class, treasurer of the
Universitv Y. Mf. C. A., and newly elee
ted member of the house from the grand
old county of Rucker (Anderson,) re
ceived his first honor this summer when
he was elected as a member of the
Southern Regional Council of the stu
dent Y. Mt. C. A at the Blue Ridge con
ferece this summer. Each state elects
two men to the regional council, Mr.
Kingman of Wof ford being the other
ilain to represent this state. The Regional
concil is the new form of organization
of the student Y. M. C. A thru which it
is hoped to work out a much closer co
operation between the student organ
izations. Mr. Johnson succeeds another
Uiiversity student, Mr. Lightsey, whose
term of two years has just expired. The
Regional council will meet in Atlanta
soon at the call of Mr. David R. Porter
of New York to help in the selection of
a new man to take Mr. Gossard's place
who has just resigned.
The University was well represented
at Blue Ridge this summer in every way
except athletics. Seven men constituted
her delegation, 0. 1). Johnson, Mutt
Millard, C. Thomas, Fred Parker, Bax
ter, Dabbs, and Bell. The gang took a
day of f and mnade the trip to Mt. Mitch
el, and pulled other stunts that made
fun that will not be forgotten. It is
also rumored that 0. D. Johnson re
ceived inspiration from an Anderson
College student that laster even thru the
late legislative race. One can never tell.
