Carolina's most )riceless possessionl is the IHonor System, or more properly, thle Honor Principie, that has beeni han dled down from class to class and that has been a guiding light in the lives of 'o many thousands of students who have heen here in the (lays gone by. It has been handed dowin to us unsullied by the abuse of the boys and men into whose hands it has benci intrusted and there is 110 one of us who does not hope that the same be said when we have passed on in our little part of the endless processioii, to make way for those who are to c1ome. Those of us who are returning to Car lina are already impregnated with the spirit of the Honor System. To the liew men we may say that until they realize what a vital force it is in the diaping of lives and characters of the ;tWdents of today, they canl never under itanid the love and reverence of the "old -rads" for their Alma Master. To some this state of affairs may seem a bit Ltopian, almost inconceivable in the face >f conditions elsewhere-where a man s entitled to "everything he can get way with." The sober fact is that the onor System is tile cornerstone upon A hich Carolina principles are founded m)d every true son of Carolina must -herish it as a heritage of untold value. 000 The Publications. The college newspaper and magazine upply a great need in the life of a col ege. The' give the students the op I(Irtunity of expressing himself and of leveloping latent literary ability. The lass room is of course the chief thing bout a college and it is there that the tudent is supposed to get that culture or which he has entered college. However, the class rooms have their imitations. College journalism is a abioratory course in literature. It pro ides the means by which theory may be out into practice. The Gamecock and The Carolinian oelongs to the students of the Univer ity. The standards they maintain de lend o(I the students. If yon want good m1blications von can have them. South Carolina football fans will have a ventable feast of the gridiron's sport this fall. Several big games are sched uled for South Carolina territory as will be noted in the schedules printed below. Tlhis year the Freshmen teams will also have extensive schedules and there will be something doing on South Car olina fields every week during the seas on with two games on .some fields in one week.
