(lay night. The game while
satisfactory from the stand
point of the percentage column,
was on the whole a distinct dis
appointment to those who like
to see a good game. The Blue
Stockings, altho they fought
gamely all the time were hope
lessly outclassed and the Birds,
seeming to realize this, put up
a listless and unspirited game
even tho they did come out win
ners. The Gamecocks had a
system of defence that held the
Blue Stockings scoreless with
the exception of two long shots
from center floor, one by Scott
and the other by Wilson. Th<
only thrill of the game was con
tributed by Red Thompson
who went in, in the last part of
the game, threw four goals with
Clintonites hanging all round
him and from almost impossi
ble positions.

that have been played on the
Carolina Court. The Birds were
haiidicapped by the absence of
Belk but they got away for aln
early lead in the first half of
the game and it looked like
another walk over for the lo
cals. This impression was
strengthened during the first
few minutes of the second half
when several points were ad
ded to the lead thru trick plays
that netted goals in short order.
However the sun was declining
toward the west and the birds
went to sleep for a period long
enough for the Terriers to c%tch
up with them and then piss
them. During the last minute
of play with every Carolina
man standing on his feet in(
pulling for (lear life, the Fowls
awoke from their trance and a
goal from the field followed in
the last 30 seconds of play by a
spectacular long shot by Spark
man, broke the tie and won the
game for the (lamecocks. With
the exception of the period of
trance, the entire Gamecock
team played well. Wallace
Sparkman and Waite played
great ball thruout the game.
