OUR OWN EVANGELINE. This is the college incarnate. The murmuring coeds and freshman, Whisper in tones like the breezes, whisper of profs and of lessons, Whisper of scandal and gossip, of traditions, and dates on a Sunday, Speak loudly of athletes and vic t'ries, boast of the deeds of the college. Into the school in Septembei, come trooping the lowly green freshmen, To learn of the ways of the col lege; sad, hard and long is the learning, With resounding strokes of the paddle, and gauntlets to run in the nightime; Before the ones at the quadran gle. But the prep at last is triumphant. He cometh again as a sophomore, a man of knowledge un bounded, Learnd in the ways of. the col lege, wise for the teach ing of freshmen, Loud in his talk of his learning, elated and swelled like a bubble. But vain is the knowledge of sophomores, and his pride is pricked like the bubble. The Junior is wise and is quiet, the Senior is grave in his knowledge. - But for all is the prof hard in grading, and swift are the cons in appearing. Take heed, ye men of the col lege, the ways of women are guileful, Ye men of all classes be watch ful, be careful to see that ye flunk not. Roll not the white cubes of ivory, hold not your queens against aces, Be weary of home brew and splinters; study your les sons with wisdom, Date you not oft with the coeds, beware of the odor of vio lets, Abandon ye all your enjoyment, and you will emerge with a sheepskin. -Ex. Y. W. C. A. TO GIVE VAUDEVILLE IN CHAPEL The Whizz Bang Vaude ville, one of the most unique events of the year, will be staged in the chapel on Satur day, April 23rd, at 8 o'clock. It is to be given under the aus pices of the Y. W. C. A. Great plans have been made, and the girls are working enthusiasti cally. Chicora and Columbia College have been invited. Af ter the vaudeville a short re ception will be held, at which the "Y", will serve light re freshments. The University Post of the American Legion, the first formed among colleges of this state, has been completely re organized and put on a func tioning basis as a result of elec tions held last' week. J. Q. Marshall and R. H. Hil ton were elected, respectively, post commander and vice post commander at the reorganiza tion meeting. This meeting was well attended and indications are that the university post will take its place among the lead ing in the state. R. H. Hilton, vice post com mander, is a veteran of the famous 30th division and a holder of the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest medal given by the United States in recognition of duty performed.
