BRIGHT PROSPECTS
FOR TRACK TEAM.
Several Former Stiars and
Many New Prospects
Appear.
' very prospect points to a
successful season for the track
team for this year. More in
terest is being exhibited in this
phase of athletics than has
ever been exhibited before.
There is a splendid array of
men out on the field, including
several men from last year's
team, and an imposing array of
new material. E. B. Smith,
captain and manager, George
Varn, A. D. Mann, "Socrates"
Erwin, all of the 1919 team,
have returned, and with W. C.
Mann, a former track star, Co
ley Seaborn, one time high
school track wonder, and sev
eral new men, the university
should be able to put out the
best track team produced in
years. Among the more prom
ising high school men out for
places are Sizemore, Winter,
D. 0., Kelly, Wright, Lam
bright, Castles, J. O. Reid,
Blount, J. C. Brown, W. L.
Refo, H. H. Crosby, E. E.
Schnieder, Harper, B. L. Smith,
Sherrill, Skinner and Waite.
Manager Smith is now busy
working on the schedule, and
is planning a series of meets
both at the university and on
the road. The completion of
the schedule has been delayed
because the track schedule has
to be arranged in harmony
with the baseball games. The
most interesting meet under
consideration is the one that is
in contemplation with Har
vard, who is at present trying
to arrange a trip thru this part
of the country, meeting all the
larger schools on the cinder
path. Other schools with
whom Manager Smith is in cor
respondence are Davidson,
Wofford, Clemson, Citadel,
Tech and Wake Forres;t. If
possible, the team will make
the trip to Atlanta and join in
the great annual S. I. A. A.
meet there.
