ALUMNI RECORD NOW BEING COLLECTED Part Played in the War By Each Alumnus to be Recorded - The University of South Car olina is preparing to publish complete record of its alumni and students. Blanks are being mailed to each to be filled out. In view of the fact that the university is not in possession of the present address of a great many alumni who have changed addresses since leav ing the university it is earnest ly requested that the desired information be sent immediate ly without waiting for the blanks. This must be done if the record is to be complete. The plan has two phases. In the first place the university is very anxious to obtain informa tion as to the war record of its alumni and students in order that each may have a place in the memorial now being planned. It is requested that, in cases where students and alumni have not returned from overseas, or have died in ser vice, or for any other reason the situation is such that sol diers are likely to be unable to furnish the university with the information the relatives and friends of such soldiers send the information. In the second place, it is planned to establish a filing system which is to be a perma nent record of all alumni and students of the university. Again it is urged that relatives and friends come to the assist ance of the university in the ef fort to obtain accurate and complete records of students who have attended the univer sity since and including the year 1900, as well as any in formation pertaining to stu dents who were in the univer sity prior to 1900 but which be longs to the period since 1910. It will be a fine thing to have it so that any one may come to the university or write and ob tain a -short history of any of its alumni. To make this pos sible is the aim. The desired information ,covers the following points: Name in full, recent address, present occupation, occupa tions engaged in since leaving the university, class of -, and date degree, whether married or single, if married, name of husband or wife and date of marriage, war record, covering time of enlistment, branch of service, promotions and rank, places where services rendered .if wounded, if dead, the date, place and circumstances, of death. If non-combatant ser vice,. facts relative to same. OLD CAROLINA MAN TO WRITE ON BOLSHEVISM Had Thrilling Experiences In Russia During War T. B. Alford, an old Carolina student, who has spent three years in Russia, and the Scan danavian peninsular, has re turned to the university and has begun work on his book on Bolshevism. Mr. Alford was in Russia during two years of strife and revolution and has a rare knowledge of his own with reference to Bolshevism. While in Russia he was captured by the Germans and held prisoner for some time. Later he escaped and made his way to Sweden. Mr. Alford will make some interesting statements in his book, as he has an intimate knowledge of Russian affairs. He has only a short time ago returned to this country.
