FOSTER'S GAMECOCKS OUTPLAY NEWBERRY Indians Unable to Stop Carolinu Rush In a game tht -a the playing of the Carolina five, Newberry was defeated by a score ;f 49 to 12. The best ex hibition of the season in the way of good passing was made. The Indians were hopelessly' at sea when it came to shooting goals, while the Gamecocks had no difficulty in that line. New berry made four foul goals in the first half but was unable to make a single field goal. The score at the end of the first half was 27 to 4. Famous Educators Assembled in Chicago Dr. Patterson Wardlaw, dean of the school of education at the University attended a meet ing of the Department of Su perintendence of the National Educational Association held in Chicago last week. There were at least seven thousand of the educators of the country pres ent and nowhere is there a gath ering containing a more influ ential body of men than these. The main subject of discussion throughout the meeting was the "Reconstruction of Education to meet Post War Condition." Under this head such things as illiteracy, salaries of teachers, training of teachers, vocational education and Americanization were thoroughly discussed. A resolution was passed favoring a minimum salary of teachers of $1,000. The assembly unani mously indorsed the league of peace proposed by President Wilson.
