COL DAVIS ANNOUNCES NEW APPOINTMENTS Capt. B. R. Earle Will be Batalian Major--Other Promotions Col. Davis has announced the following military appoint ments: General Order No. 10. 1. The following appoint ments are hereby announced in the corps of cadets: To be major, Captain B. R. Earle. To be captains. First Lieut. Shand, Second Lieut. Beckham. To be first lieutenants, First Sergeant Wesiger, Sergeant B. R. Baker, Sergeant Young. To be second lieutenants, First Sergeant Wells, R.; Ser geant Miller, J. B.; First Ser geant Hagood, Sergeant Trot ter. To be sergeant major, Ser geant Laughlin. To be first sergeants, Ser geant Hampton, Sergeant Rice, J B.; Sergeant Weston, Wm., Jr. To be sergeants, Corporals Winstead, Evans, Vaux, Lupo, Lindsay, Evatte. To be corporals, Privates Wannamaker, Crawford, eakt 2. Assignments are as fol lows: Captain Shand to C Com pany; Captain Beckham to A Company. First Lieuts. Corporals Wannamaker, Crawford and Steadman to C Company; Coker to B Com pany. They will be respected and obeyed accordingly. Hypatians Elect At a recent meeting the Hy patian Literary society elected the following officers to serve (luring the spring term: Presi dent, Roberta Camak ; .vice president, Elise Heriot; secre tary and treasurer, Frances Carrol; critic, Alma Klapman. The vacancies on the staff have again been filled and the new officers have taken up their duties. At a student body meeting last Saturday morning Marcus Price was elected literary edi tor and McK. Barr and H. D. Steadman,. senior editors. While the absence of the busi ness manager, J. C. Kearse, v:ill be sorely felt, yet he has done much already in laying the foundation work, to make the final work a success. The Garnet and Black is be ing printed this year by Jacobs & Company, printers and en gravers, etc., of Clinton, S. C. Thih is one of the largest con cerns of its kind in the South and is adequately equipped to ;ive efl:cient se: vice. This con cern is printing a number of other South Carolina college ~earbooks. Among them be ing those of Clemson, Chicora, t:rskine and P. C. All cuts and copy must be in the hands of the publishing company within the next few sveeks in order to secure the best of service. The fullest co operation is necessary to get this material in. Student Body Meeting The regular meeting of the student body was held last Sat -irday morning. W. M. Lindsay, P. F. Bos well and A. L. Wardlaw were chosen to go before the editor in-chief of The Gamecock, one of whom is to be -chosen stu dent body editor. M. W. Price was elected lit erary editor of the Garnet and Black, while H. D. Steadman and Mc K. Barr wvere chosen senior edlitors. R. C. Thompson was elect ed to fill the vacancy in the so 'cial cabinet caused by the withdrawal of Robert Moor man, Jr., from college. J. H-. Martin's resignation as one of the senior editors of the Garnet and Black was re eived.
