of his time to work of the State
Council of Defense, of which or
ganization he is secretary. Much
of the executive work of tie
council will rest on Dr. Smith.
His duties in that office, howev
er, will not make it impossible
for him to meet his classes at
the university. With a slight
lessening of his work with that
institution, he is enabled to car
ry on effectively the work of the
State Council of Defense.
