They say one of the secrets of salesmanship is to boost the strong point of your line. In other %words, it you are trying to sell a railroad three miles long, tell 'em its just as wide as the New York Central. CHAMPIONSHIP GAME It is not often that we have the. opportunity of witnessing a championship game. Next Sat urday the Chester and Florence Iigh Schools will play here for the high school championship of South Carolina. We wvelcome them to our campus, and are glad to have the chance to> entertain them. We want them to feel that the University has a vital interest in them and wants to do wvhat it can to further their inter ests. Columbia is an ideal place for this championship game and we hope that this will be an annua affair. The game has been made possib)le by the Alumni. t's make it a success. Go out to the game and cheer when cheering is due. Make the boys feel at home and give them the best time they have ever had. It is L) to us. THE PRESS ASSOCIATION Few experiences in the short life of a college editor are pleas ant. Seldom does he have a1 chance to leave his desk, wash printers' ink from his fingers, and enjoy the outside world. The' College Press Association afford-' ed such an opportunity. Last week the editors laid down their pens, packed their grips, and moved toward Greenville. This event will long be remem bered in the hearts and minds of, those who were so fortunate as to be delegates. The College Press Association is. without a doubt, the greatest organization of college men and women of South Carolina. At this meet ing the various editors had the opportunity of coming together and discussiug freely in round table fashion the problems that confronted each. Ideas were ex changed, problems solved, and each went away with a better knowledge of how the paper should be edited. The meeting this year in Green v'ille was a profound success. Much credit is due to the hosts, and the GAMECOCK joins with the other magazines of this state in a health to Greenville Wom an's College, Furman University and the city of Greenville. WAKE UP hllose of* us who heard the talks of some of' our faithful alumni before the student body Monday. must realize that we have not (lone our duty. The spirit of the student body has lagged. Our team this year has not made the record made in past years, but this is not their fault. Don't be a knocker. If you think you can do better, take your place on the field. It is your team and and it is your duty to support it. The alumni are willing to do' their share, as they have done in the past, but they are not willing to feed us athletics as medicine in a spoon. They have offered to take up over half of the debt now on the Athletic Association, provided that w e make up the rest. Let's wake up. We can,. and will raise this money. Sign away your breakage fee and con tribute to the fund. Make some sacr ifice for your college. Let's take the first forward_ step Thursday. We must win that game.
