Even Chicora had a shirt waist
parade.
You may have noticed that it
is usually the block-head who
goes around with a chip on his
shoulder.
Undoubtedly it must have been
a rank Euphradian that referred
to them as the Clariosophistry
and Euphradiant literary so
cieties.
Of course it would, be just like
some ignorant and improper
freshman to say that in Friday
night's celbration he was right
there where the bull was thick
est.
Some of the co-eds were asked
to join in Thursday night's ex
posed upper garment parade
note the presidential diction
but they absolutely refused to
make an exhibit of their patriot
ism.
You may remember that the
p)et said war has its blessings
no less renowned than peace, or
words to that effect, and while
we are on the subject let us re
mind you that Duke Turteltaub
is still on the border.
There was a young fellow
named Blatt
His temper was violently hotti
Though his anger he nurses
No man he curses
He limitshimself to "Great scot."
Of course you know Dummy
Moore;
Over his studies he often would
poore.
Silent as night
His opponent he'd fight
Until he was covered with goore.
Now and then you see a fresh
man put his knife in his mouth
while at table.
YOUR WEEKLY
It seems hard for students to
realize that the GAMECOCK is
their paper. They are urged to
write articles for it, to report any
ridiculous happenings on the
campus, and are welcome to its
columns for the airing of their
views,with the censorship of the
staff.
Fellows, support your weekly 1
paper. It may not be the best in
the world the editors may not be
what you think they should; but'
don't be a knocker. If the GAME
COCK is not a success it is your
fault as well as the editor's.
College spirit may be shown by
doing your part to help make this
the best weekly in South Carolina.
Help the staff, patronize its ad ver
tisers, and spend a measly dollar
for a subscription to it.
CONGRATULATIONS
To many of us, anything that
causes a holiday is a worthy event.
The re-election of Woodrow Wil
son means vastly more to us than
the mere getting of the holiday.
It means that for four more years
we will be guided by the wise
hand that has kept us out of war
with honor. The man who has
reigned with peace, progress, and
prosperity will again rule in the
White House.
Carolina was the first college
to form a Woodrow Wilson Club
of college men to work for his elec
tion in 1912. We congratulate Mr.
Wilson, the nation, and ourselves
on his re-election.
PATRIOTISM
We regret seriously to learn
that certain property on the State
House Grounds was damaged on
the night of the Wilson Parade.
The blame has been partly
placed on students of the Univer
sity. We hope they are not guilty
of the offence, and we know that
if they are, it was done thought
lessly in a spirit of celebration
and not in a spirit of destruction.
This is however, not the prop
er means of displaying true pa
triotism; and the student body
should look with disfavor upon
such conduct.
