UNIVERSITY GLEE CLUB MEETS AND ORGANIZES J. W. Wilkes Elected President E. P. Hodges to Manage Club. The Glee Club met on last Fri day night and organized. Mr. J. Wesley Wilkes was elected presi dent and Mr. E. P. Hodges, manager. Many new men were out at the meeting among whom were: first tenors, L. H. Sims and J. M. Hagood; seond tenors, D. B. Stover; baritone, D. P. San ders; basso, Dusen bury. The old members present were, E. P. Hodges, J. W. Wilkes, F. E. Sims A. G. Horne, accompanist. The club as a whole has an un usually good outlook. All of the new men are exceptionally good and some have had quite a lot of training. Mr. Dusenbury, the new basso, a graduate of Furman has been manager of the glee club there for two years. No engagements have been made as yet but manager Hodges is endeavoring to secure several and with the club he has there should be no difficulty in listing all of them. FRESHMAN AND C. H. S. BATTLE TO TIE The Carolina freshmen played the Columbia High School foot ball team, before, between and after the varsity game on Satur day, in what proved to be a very interesting contest. The game developed some real football, the high school boys showing a form that is rarely found in a team of its class. The freshmen also played well. The score, which was a small but interesting part of the contest, was 12 to 12. . Practically all of the men on both sides played good ball but a number on each side played sen ationally. George Brown and 'Red" Turner showed off best n the Carolina backfield, while ob Moorman played an excellent ame throughout regaining three umbled balls. C. C. Pearce, captain of the Columbia High! was the individual star of that eam. Turnipseed and Barnes Iso played well in spots.
