EASTER WEEK VERY
GAY AND ENJOYABLE
Two Dances and Big Reception
Given in Honor of Queen
and Her Attendants.
The first entertainment of the
festive week was a delightful
German Club dance at the Jeffer
son hotel Monday evening, April
21. It was a very pleasant oc
casion and was enjoyed by all
who attended.
Wednesday afternoon a recep
tion was given by the student
body. Owing to the inclement
weather, only a small crowd at
C tended. Those who came, how
ever, had a delightful time
in spite of the weather. The re
c. ception was given on the Uni
c. versity campus green, and chairs
were placed here and there un
der the trees, and the campus
gave a very pleasing appearance.
The girls from Columbia and
Chicora colleges as well as the
faculties of these two colleges
and of the University were in
vited. Many from each of the
colleges as well as from the city
attended.
Excellent music was furnished
by Comstock's orchestra, and a
dance was started - under the
trees, many enjoying themselves
this way while others engaged in
the pleasant art of conversation.

Delicious punch was served by

versity, assisted by the flower
girls Qf the Easter queen.
On Wednesday night a student
body dance in the gymnasium
culminated the Easter week fes
tivities. The attendance was
unusually large, there being
about forty couples on the floor.
The music was again furnished
by Comstock. After some pre
I liminary dancing the coronation
of Miss Jessie Green, who had
been elected queen of Easter
week, took place. Dr. Currell,
after a few complimentary re
marks, placed the beautiful floral
piece on the head of the pretty
and daintily clad queen. He
pretended that he was going to
kiss her, as he did the queen last
year, but possibly for fear of in
curring the jealousy of Robin!
Hood who was present, he only
kissed her hand. - She was a very
gracious and attractive queen.
This dance, which lasted until
2:15, was considered the most
enjoyable ever given by the
student body.
