PROHIBITIONISTS
MEET THIS WEEK
Meeting Wednesday Night at
Chicora on Thursday
at University.
The second annual meeting of
the South Carolina division of
the Intercollegiate Prohibition
Association will be held here on
Wednesday, Thursday, and Fri
day of this week. The first meet
ing was held at Spartanburg last
year. The keen interest and the
friendly rivalry of the contes
tants displayed last year indi
cates that even a greater meet
ing will result this year. The
Association will meet with the
University, Columbia College and
Chicora College for Women.
The following colleges will
vach send a representative to.
the Prohibition Oratorical con
test: Erskine. Presbyterian Col
lege, Newberry. Wofford, and
Furman. Preliminaries have
been held but the names have
not all been sent in at this date.
Wofford, however, will be repre-:
sented by Ed. Whisonant whose
subject is "The Morning Dawn-,
eth." Hugh 0. Hanna will rep-!
resent Carolina with an oration:
onl "The Divine Purpose of the
Ages." It is expected that this*
contest will prove as spirited as
the State Oratorical. Contest.
Another, and perhaps much
more attractive feature of this
meeting, will be the girls' essay
contest. Competing for this
prize essay are the various wo
men's colleges of the State, and
the prize essay will be read by
the winner Wednesday night fol
lowed by an address by General
Secretary Warner of the I. P. A.
Those who have heard and read
of Mr. Warner are expecting a
great address.
On Thursday a business meet
ing will be held to transact the
affairs of the Association an(t to
elect officers for the ensuing
year. At 6:301 p. m. a reception
will be given to the local clubs
and delegates at the home of
President Currell.
ThursdaY night in the chapel
will be the oratorical contest.
The program has not yet been
arranged. The music will be
furnished by Columbia College
and Chicora College for Women.
WVednesday night the essay con
test will b)e held at Chicora Col
lege for Women.
B3esides the delegates many vi

CAROLINA WINS THREE GAMES
OF FIVE PLAYED LAST WEEK
Carolina and did his best work
of the season. Besides good
work behind the bat, he got
three heavy hits. Sims' work
around second was the fielding
feature of the pastime.
Holding, Harris, and -Carlyle
did the best work for Wake
Forest.
Newton came across with a
strong workout again Saturday.
The big boy let the Methodists
down with one lone hit, and
struck out thirteen of the twen
ty-eight men who faced him.
Newton also got two hits in four
times up. Horton played a good
game at first and hit for a safety.
Sims played fine ball at second.
The field work was good. Clark
ended a heavy hitting week.
The Wofford team was badly
broken up after a long series of
games and some of the regular
players being out of play.
Three out of five or sixty per
cent was the result of the week.
The Gamecocks play two games
with Tennessee, and leave Mon
day for a road trip of eight days.

Even a King cai
you should like
If it so happened that
Fatimas were originally
"Made and blended for
the King of Whatiz"
would that fact prove that
you were going to like
Fatimas best ?
It would not.
A man'staste is his own.
A cigarette that might de
light some old potentate's
palate would not neces
sarily please you.
Thot's why qwe leave
Fatimas up to your taste.
But there is something
more than good taste that
is mighty im portant toyou.
No matter how good
tasting a cigarette may be
-it can only be the SEN
SIBLE cigarette for you
if it is comfortable, too.
Its pure tobacco must
be cool and comfortable
to your throat at all times.
And it must leave you
feeling fine and fit at the
end of ahard-smokingday.
Will it do all that?
Then, it is the sensible
cigarette for YOU.
