Whether it's dissolved or not, we'd like to say in passing that the Laundry Trust hasn't a spot less record. It may be old fashioned and not worth while, But I'd like to see her once more. The only aid to her sweet young smile Was plain old talcum after H20. OUR OPPORTUNITY The purpose of an education is to enable us to enjoy the ful ness of life. What a person en joys reveals the character of the effect education has had upon the individual. That which men enjoy depends upon their attitude toward life and the world about them. It is a part of education to present facts by which a man may be guided to give know ledge which will determine his at titude. Upon knowledge Soc rates said, "Knowledge is vir tue'' the power of though t is develoned. In college a man lays the foundation for an education, or masters the index to life-the book will be written in accord with the index. Mind, body, and soul are the three great elements of man. The co-ordination of these and the relationship to others and the world make life. Harmonious development of mind, body, and soul is essential in bringing about the proper relationship. The mind has been compared to new land: "Ideas are like seed, education like cultiva tion. Rich soil is bound to raise something, if it is nothing but weeds. A green hand will sometimes hoe up veg etables and cultivate weeds, but the land is not to blame for this." Are you a green hand? If so educate your mind by ac quiring facts. A man has in college an oppor tunity thru study and association, to develop his mind especially in the pursuit of subjects offered in the outline of courses. Often students take courses and not the subject offered in the course, the idea being to obtain credit as means to an end only -steps toward a degree. In the study of anything there is beauty, but it is not found until it is sought. Many men in col lege do not get below the sur face and enjoy the beauty of their subjects. That work a man does without enjoyment, his soul does not enter. That which the soul does not enter does not tend to develop the proper relation ship, and the development of the soul is thwarted to that extent. Physical exercise in athletics gives the college man the oppor tunity of developing his body. A man with an undeveloped, weak, sickly body has a handi capped mind, regardless of its brilliancy. In the body is the strength to live life. Thru the physical man the divine finds means of expression, thru phy sical development the expression will be strengthened. The development of the soul is part of the education mer are wont to neglect. It is the di vine part of man that distin guishes him from all other animals. The opportunities of fered are many. Thru the as sociation with one another. the college activities and life thai embrace all and every man, the spiritual influences that fill the atmosphere, give an almost limitless field for expression and possibilities of growvth. Th( sunshine is here, be warm o1 cold as you will. The future of each man and the future of the State will b( dletermined by the educatior men acquire.
