FOUR VARSITY MEN LOST TO GAMECOCKS Hill, Porter, Coggeshall and Laudenslager Will not Return. This year there are only a few varsity football men who will graduate. This sounds good for the future prospects of the JAMES CASEY PORTER Varsity center and guard who will take his law degree in June. Gamecocks when compard with last year. At the beginning of the season just past the whok team was torn up by men whc graduated last June or for rea sons could not return to college. However, next season this diffi culty will not be as great, ac cording to the present outlook, because only a comparativly small number of varsity mer will graduate next June. The University of South Carolina, however, will feel greatly the loss of the men who will go out and feel a deep regret that these excellent men can never don a Garnet and Black jersey anc represent the proud Gamecocks on the gridiron again. Luther Hill of Darlington, wh< has playd varsity end for Caro lina for five years and who haz establisht for himself an en viable record in Southern foot ball, will graduate next June He was captain of the team foi the season of 1914, and there aE elsewhere he showd his marvel ous ability. Luke is as populai a student as he is a footbal p)layer and it is to be regrette< that he will be lost to the Uni versity. Jerry Porter of Pickens wil also graduate next June. He ha: playd varsity football for Caro lina a number of years and ha: done stellar work both at centei and at guard. The Gamecock: will miss him greatly in thei: "stone- wall" line next season J. W. After the speech, the club heard the report of a committee appointed to draw up a constitu tion. The constitution was adopted. Several new men 'sig nified their intention to become members of the club. The membership of the club is limited to fifty students and the faculty of the University. An aunual fee of fifty cents is to be chargd. The objects of the club, as set forth in the constitution, are as follows: "(a). To inquire into the prob lems of international relation ships. "(b). To discuss to what ex tent recent industrial and finan cial developments have affected the utility of armd force as a means of securing national ad vantag. "(c). To ascertain the extent and effects of misleading termi nology in discussion of interna tional relations and to discourage its use. "(d). To consider means whereby the security of nations can be promoted. "(e). To spread, by writing and speaking, a knowledg of the conclusions to which the above inquiries may lead. "(f). To interchange ideas with similar clubs establisht at home and abroad." He has been working on the football field ever since he has been in college, and all who saw his superb work at quarter in the Thanksgiving game can readily see what a good man the Game cocks will lose. "Runt" has the name of having more "grit" packt up in his body tian it would take to make another such pyramid as was built in Egypt long ago by Cheops. Another man who will receive his degree in June is C. M. T. Laudenslager of Allentown, Pa. It is thot, however, that Lau denslager intends to return next year and all Carolina supporters hope that this is true. He was declard ineligible to play in most of the games this year, so scarcely had an opportunity to show his ability; however, he will be eligible next season and great things are expected of him. While the University deeply regrets the loss of these men, the fact that the number is small is a cause for thank fulness.
