Discussion now raging at Clemson: Which is the more en titled to represent a Palmetto: State college in football, a South Carolina crook or a Pennsyl vania gentleman? The Clemson Tiger expresses the wish that the controversy over ineligible players in the last Clemson-Carolina football game be made a dead issue, and we' have no doubt that the wish is sincere in view of certain ru mors now ofloat among. the pno ple of the State. Prof. F. H. H. Calhoun, Clenson's faculty rep resentative in athletics, has also done his part to smooth over the matter by generously (?) de clining Carolina's proffered for feit, and by making the blanket assertion, without investigation, that the entire Clemson football squad was eligible'to play. Also in a statement, he publishes affi davits to prove that Hunter Har ris did not violate the summer baseball rules in Union County, but apparently forgets the more serious charge that at some time or other he is alleged to have played upon the Cordele, Ga., semi-professional team. The gentleman also says that Clemson has absolutely no ground upon which to base an investi gation, and asks that he be in formed "if there are any others against whom even a suspicion is entertained." For the benefit of the gentle men,, President W. M. Riggs, Prof. J. W. Gantt, and the Clemson student body, we repro duce certain of the more reli able.of these rumors in the hope that evidence will be presented to show their falsity for the sake of the honor of Clemson, the con tinued friendship and respect of Carolina, and the integrity of South Cerolina football. 1. Did not J. G. Gee once play for th Columbia Athletics, a semi-prfessional team, and did he not receive approximately $80.00 per month for his servi ces? 2. Did not "Dopey" Major re ceive $30.00 a month from the Orr Cotton Mills of Anderson, S. C., when his sole service to that mill was performed upon the baseball diamond? 3. Is not,E. A. McFadden a resident of ClareAdon County, S. C., and did he not receive money for his services as short stop upon the Mayesville semi professional team when Mayes ville is in Sumter County, and did not such action violate at least two. S. I. A. A. summer baseball rules? We urge that the investigation cover not only the questions, touched upon here but that aI thoro investigation be made and the whole matter uncovered for the reasons stated above. Caro lina was crooked thru no faultof the student body, but the stu dents thru a committee made a rigid investigation, and tried to make honorable amends. Go, thou and do likewise,. Clemson. School of Arts and Science, with various courses of study in Languages, History, Science, etc., leading to the degrees of A. B. and B. S. Eight General Scholarships worth from $100 to $150 each. II. School of Education, which seeks to prepare persons to serve the State as teachers, principals and superin tendents of schools. In this course the A. B. is -the degree conferred. III. Graduate School, with advanced courses leading tt the degree of Master of Arts. Graduates of the colleges of South Carolina. are admitted to the University in all courses except Law, without charge for tuition. IV. School of Engineering, Civil and Electrical, leading to C. E. and E. E. degrees. V.' School of Law, with a course leading to the degree of LL. B. The presence of the various courts and the use of the State Law Library afford exceptional facilities. Collego fees for the year, $18, including medical attention. For women college fees are only $12. For those paying tuition, $40 additional. Room, with light and service, $8 a year.
