Mine dear Karl f Since 1. haf been in this Caro slina college, it iss one thing which _has most of all me struck, and ithis iss that the ladies have also Lhere their lessons. It isy many peculiarities con -cerning, namely,Jirst of all, the Sname of "Co-eds" ihich to them 2has been given.- Why, I will like to know, should they be thus called? Then also these co-eds has all the rights w.ich they could de sire for even have I heard that there iss going to be fixed for them a tea room! Isn't that grand?, to use the same words which I heard one of these to say. Also, have I once met, (or may be twice or n:ore) these ladies even in the chemistry laboratory where they learn about fire,' air, and water, and above all how to break test tubes. All the chemi cal students learn this art most quickly but with the co-eds ladies, it is' altogether different. I have found that.they are slow in 'grasping thIe furdamental rules, )ut once they have acguir e- the art, it becomes really an a cmplishment, and, nothing could make them ever, i'gi to lose it-to show the truth of which they vie with each another in Ireaking the largest number. Moreover these clubs, JiterAry and other various kinds, wlich imeet in a hou3e not very far located from the university and which has not even a nanp and so fcannot desce'rit. At one of ihese club meetings, which occ.urs not quite so frequent, a committee was nominpted to see about giviig t6 this 'riouse a name, but these ladies compos ing the 'commi'tee was not suc cessful though they made refer ence to certain Greek and Latin nanes, very highsounding and unihteiligible. And so the insti tution st,ill remains without a name. I noticed the other day lying flat'on the campus.(the campus is the ground which is seen all around the university, but, this ground is much different from all dther ground since it iss here -at the nniversity) well, on this campus ground, I saw certain remains of fountain pens and other possesSions which I said to mnysel as I *passed: "that must surely be a loss of one of these v'ery co-eds ladies." I am still 1)uzzled concerning tjhe reason for which these ladies is named co-eds. If only I can ever find out, I shall let you know. My wishes for your luck, FnITz. University eleyen defeated the University of ,South Carolina eleven last Saturday by.a score. of 61 to 0, in a game featured by th3 abili ty of George,town to score al most at will. The game was; played at Washington, D. C. To the surprise of nearly all Southern football fans, Carolina seemed unable to withstand tbe complicated forward passes of Georgetown, but while the. Gamecocks allow3d' long gains this way the Hilltop eleven did' not make any more gains thru the line and around end than did Virginia week before last. Hill broke up end run after end I run and accoraing to the Wash ington correspondent of The, State "his defensive work was, the best seen on the Hilltop this year. Bill Folger, Carolina's great halfback, was watched so close' by Georgetown that he could not gain much. His left leg was O}urt, but it is thought 'that by 'Thanksgiving he will be back in perfect form for the last 1 game of the season. Geoiptwn scored most of their touchdowns from forward passes, although, they crossed the Carolina goal line by inter cepting passes twice.
