Our Inter-Hearst News Ser vice informs us that when Fur man played a certain team this fall some Furman players had an altercation with some players of the opposing team. Would it be proper to refer to those Baptists as ugly ducklings? THE CAROLINIAN The November Carolinian will appear in a week or so. It will not contain an article written by you. In fact, the editor has never even received anything from your pen. You as a subscriber w~ill admit that you wvant us to have a first class magaz,ine. You want The Caro linian to be second to none in the land. But your support endls with your subscription, or if you are a sport you send1 one to some other man's girl. (You think she's yours). Does this kind of support produce a good magazine of real literary merit? Ask the editor. The wail and cry of the critice of the magazine is that it is a family affair, or that the same few men write for it every month., Yes, that's - true and it's your fault. What are you going to do about it? IS IT YOU? Some hyphenated Carolinians, too stingy to subscribe to THE GAMECOCK themselves, have formed the pernicious habit of swiping the other fellow's paper. Now this leads to a great deal of trouble. The fellow who pays for the paper is righteously in dignant when he finds that the man who isn't a subscriber has purloined what he has bought and paid for. Some men silent ly endorse the theft; others be rate the Business Manager, the Editors, THE GAMECOCK and everyone connected with it. Much of this swiping is due, no doubt, to thoughtlessness. Let's stop this evil practice and let everyone have his paper, and those of us who haven't sub scribed yet do so at once and help make THE GAMECOCK what it ought to be. One of best exchanges that comes to the editor's desk is the University of Nevada Sagebrush. The Sayebrush is an eight page weekly printed on regular news paper with a make-up of regu lar newspaper style. The large number and variety of advertise ments catches the eye. Without a doubt college journalism is ad vancing and we congratulate the Nevadans upon their splendid production. We are glad to add the Sagen-ush to our list of ex changes. FOOTBALL REVIEW Thus far the Carolina Game cock has crowed long and loudly at every football game and is preening himself for further vic torious cries. Out of seven games played Carolina has won five, tied one, and lost one. The total score made by Game. cocks is 190 and the score again st them is 29 points.
