DAVIDSON TRACK
TEAM HERE SATURDAY
Carolina Meets Tarheels on
Davis Field-Plaxico to Run.
On next Saturday afternoon
Carolina will meet Davidson in a
track meet. Carolina will pre
sent the same team that beat
Wofford so badly, except that
Plaxico will do a few running
stunts, the 100 and 220 yard
dashes and the low hurdles.
Carolina won from Wofford by
the score of 87 to 31. This
score would indicate that David
son will have a hard time win
ning from Carolina. Bowen,
who scored 19 points against
Wofford, is expected to star a
gain.
On May 8, Carolina will meet
Davidson at Davidson Hill in a
return meet.
Manager Gambrell is to be
congratulated for arranging
the three meets. A larger
proportion of - the student
body is due out to see this meet,
than was out to see the triumph
over Wofford.
CAROLINA AND WAKE
FOREST DIVIDE SERIES
(Continued from front page.)
Forest captured the last game
of the season on the home
grounds from Carolina Tuesday
13 to 8. The summary, showing
23 hits and 16 errors, will give
some idea of the grade of ball
played by each team.
Carolina started -well, scoring
three runs in the opening round.
It looked like a repetition of the
previous game, but. soon the vis
itors by mixing hits with costly
boots by the Gsmecocks, suc
ceeded in tieing up matters and
then forging ahead. Two pitch
ers were forced from the box by
the terrific swats of the batsmen
f each team. In justice to
Smith it must be said that he
pitched well in spite of bad sup
port. In the fourth and fifth
innings five runs were scored off
him, although only three hits
were gotten in these two rounds.
Many of Wake Forest's hits
were of the bunt order.
Hensley, the Baptists third
3acker, had a big day at the bat,
securing a home run, three base
hit and two singles in five ap
pearances. For the University
Slong running catch by Lang
ston was the fielding feature.
Martin, Stoney and Langston
each secured two hits apiece.
Scores by innings:
